I’ve been caring for this beautiful jade plant for a few years now and did some pruning on the top a few weeks ago. The top is exploding and it looks beautiful, but the bottom remains a bit bare. I assume this is because the window light doesnt hit the bottom, is there anything I can do to correct this behavior or do I need to move the plant? Should I prune the bottom branches even with two leaves? I water this plant whenever the soil is dry which is about every 2-3 days – she demands a lot of water!

  1. Honestly not a clue but that plant is dope.
Really don’t know if it’ll help but pruning the bottom like you did the top? (Wait for a better comment)

Put it on a stool or pedestal so that the lower branches receive more light, plants produce leaves where they’re the most useful aka where the light hits them

This is an elephant bush or technically Portulacaria afra. They do look similar to Jade but its not a crassula. With more light it may put out more branches but this is their usualy growth habit. Sometimes people prune them into bonsai kind of forms. I would prune the bottom so it looks more like a tree but that really is just preference.
