We have this curio cabinent in our front room that is really just a storage unit. I'm going to start he process of turning it into a vivarium. Ultimate goal to hold a chameleon in it. Species to be determined based upon the environment I can create. I threw some renderings into chatgpt for ideas.
Order some 80/20 aluminium to frame our sliding glass doors.
Currently I'm thinking the background is going to look like a fallen tree stump w/ the root structure up against the back wall. The foreground will be wooded/viney.
Still need to figure out ventilation, humidity and temperature control. Found a mist king humidifier on FB marketplace I'm going to pick up this weekend. I plan to install some PC fans on the lower end of the unit and a vent in the top, So when humidity gets to high I can pump air in and hopefully drop humidity. Goal is 50-70% humidity in the day and 100% at night.
Do they make any controllers w/ charting to visualize humidity and temperature through time? I want something that automatically logs.
Havent really looked into lights yet. Figured it's going to be LEDs and a basking light. Really need to do more research into this part.
Should be a fun project. Looking for any input or suggestions.

What is the cabinet made of and will it sustain moisture?
The first and second sketch look really good !
I’m currently building an enclosure out of a wooden end table. I had to coat the entire inside with a couple coats of liquid rubber to ensure that the wood doesn’t get wet and eventually lead to rot. I’m using XPS insulation board for the background which I’ll cover with DryLok to give it a rock feel. I got the inspo from SerpaDesigns ! He’s done a couple of big vivarium builds and is a good guide to use for projects like this.
