In true British fashion, the weather has been unpredictable recently, with a spell of heavy rain followed by scorching sunshine. And as any avid gardener knows, this is liable to make a lawn unruly, with weeds and other growth getting a bit out of hand.
Thankfully, Amazon’s number one best-selling grass strimmer, the SMILOVII Cordless Strimmer, has been reduced by 30%, and will now cost you just £62.99 down from £89.99, offering a total saving of £27.
The lightweight, battery-powered electric strimmer makes light work of your garden or outdoor space, with six metal blades and 10 plastic blades that can be used to tackle everything from weed piles and tender lawn edges, to branches and hard bushes.
The gardening tool has a 90° cutting head which can easily be used at different angles, and it is wireless so you don’t need to worry about cables getting in the way while you’re tidying up your garden.
The grass trimmer is equipped with an adjustable telescopic rod, which can be adjusted freely between 35.4 and 47.2 inches, according to different environments.

The electric strimmer is ‘lightweight but powerful’
What’s more, the anti-collision iron bars mean you don’t have to worry about damage if the strimmer accidentally brushes against hard stones or wall.
It is also safe to use, as you are required to press the anti-mistouch switch before pressing the start switch, so there’s no way you can accidentally turn it on.
The strimmer runs for around one hour before needing to be recharged, which should give you plenty of time to tidy your whole garden a few times over. And the two batteries can be replaced, so that you don’t need to wait for the strimmer to charge while you’re gardening.
Amazon shoppers love the SMILOVII Strimmer, giving it an overall rating of 4.1 stars out of five, from more than 1,500 reviews.
One happy customer said: “This is an excellent addition to your gardening equipment. I have a petrol driven one, but this handy little battery operated one does anything my petrol one does and more, especially in awkward places.”

Another added: “Brilliant piece of kit for the money. Works amazingly, did my 400 foot garden in no time.”
And a third said: “Light but powerful. I bought this as a replacement for a more expensive strimmer. Easy to assemble, and feels incredibly light by comparison.
“The metal blades were fine for cutting down an overgrown lawn, and I was particularly impressed with how quickly and smoothly the circular blades went through low-hanging tree branches. It’s much better than the more expensive one it replaced. Would definitely recommend!”
However, some shoppers felt the strimmer was not suitable for every outdoor space, as one commented: “This strimmer is fine for clear, flat lawns, but the plastic fittings snap easily when trimming near fences, decking, or raised beds. They broke every few minutes with the slightest resistance. I’d recommend a wire alternative instead. Not suitable for more detailed garden work.”
If you’re looking for alternatives, the McGregor 25cm Cordless Grass Trimmer will cost you £60 at Argos. Or over at B&Q, you can get £20 off the Ryobi 230mm Cordless Grass Trimmer, now down from £95 to £75.
