HENDERSON — The Daisy Garden Club held its monthly meeting on May 19 at the Crossroads Event Center. 

Yellow and white table cloths adorned the tables. President Vivian Bullock called the meeting to order at approximately 5 p.m. Gardener Barbara Carroll led the devotion, an inspiring poem titled “Peaceful Thoughts.”

The Daisy Garden Club received a certificate and a poem beautifully framed from the L.B. Yancey School Volunteer Luncheon. Thirteen members were present during roll call. 

Gardener Edith Carroll gave the financial report. The Daisette Youth Gardeners met in May when Barbara Carroll did a presentation on birds. She also quizzed the youth on different types of birds.

There was no unfinished business. 

Under New Business, the upcoming 2025 convention was discussed and more information will be forthcoming. The community service project reports were given. Gardener Freddie Harris book signing was held May 23. 

Gardener Naomi Dixon celebrated her 101st birthday. Gardener Laura Dudley passed out pamphlets and other helpful resources. Gardeners Laura Perry and Brenda Holloway-Lofton attended the pest management presentation program conducted by Wayne Rowland. 

Judith Burnett was our special guest for the evening. 

Gardener Henry Floyd presented a program on vegetable planting. With a few in display, he discussed how to plant each vegetable and how to use them when cooking. 

Charles Lofton thanked the hostess and Brenda blessed the food. The closing prayer was given by Gardener Laura Dudley. 

Happy Birthday was sung to Gardener Shirley Adams in her absence. 

The next meeting was held on June 16.
