The company’s landscape construction and landscape maintenance divisions will continue operating as normal.

Jim and Deb Scocozza started Chestnut Hill Nursery in 1977, helping to make outdoor living spaces a better place to enjoy time with family and friends over the ensuing decades.

Almost a half century later, the couple has decided to close the retail garden center as they begin to prepare for the next chapter in their lives, according to a post on Chestnut Hill Nursery’s Facebook page.

On the business’ website, Jim and the Chestnut Hill Nursery team extended heartfelt gratitude to the community that’s supported them over the years.

“After 48 amazing years of growing with you through our retail garden center, we have made the heartfelt decision to close that chapter of our business,” the online announcement reads.

“Your trust, support and friendship over the years have meant the world to us. It has been an honor to help bring beauty to your gardens and outdoor spaces, and to help you with advice so many times along the way.”

In the garden center’s final days, individuals can shop a wide array of remaining merchandise, including soils, mulches, plastic pottery, fertilizers, fungicides, insecticides, garden decor and Christmas decor, at discounted prices.

The center recently sold out of fruit trees, trees and perennials.

The store is operating 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through July 6.

“Stop in and see if there’s something for you!” a post on the business’ Facebook page reads.
