Hey everyone, just curious about this plant. Cant really figure out what it needs. I water it when the leaves become "squeezable" If you know what i mean ? Its standing under high artificial lighting, but the outer leaves keep dying. It just bloomed before 3-4 weeks something, but i cut them off.
Any ideas how i can stop the leaves from dying off faster the reproduction can kick in ?
Greetings fellas.

The pot seems to be quite large compared to the plant. I suspect that it is re-absorbing bottom leaves to push out new roots to fill up all that extra space.
In my experience Haworthias will slow down leaf re-absorption once it is root bound, which will proabbly be a while in your case given the thick and extensive roots of the genus.
It’s probably ok, unless the plant is shrinking over time. But if you’d like to decrease the leaf dying, try more frequent watering. It looks like you have very well draining soil that can handle it. To see if the soil is dry, insert a thin wooden skewer, count to 10, then take it out. If it’s dry then you can water. You may discover that your old watering pattern was leaving the plant dry for long periods.
Or try less light. Many succulents want the blazing light of a thousand suns, but haworthia can be happy in more moderate light.
I have a similar haworthia in an even bigger pot. It has never grown to fill the pot, but it seems happy.
Just a heads up the species name is Haworthia cooperi v. obtusa, not just Haworthia v. obtusa. Looks great! 🙂
