I had this pothos on a bookshelf, and only realised yesterday that this little root/node/whatever it is had slipped between some books and taken hold. It's holding on pretty tight to this recipe book, and I'm not sure if I should just try to ease it off gently or do something else.

I’m not an expert but I am fairly certain you can just prune the root and it be fine – alternatively you can cut it between the previous node and carefully unwrap the root and plant it as a way to propagate

I’m sure you could very easily peel it off, if it has other roots in a pot or jar of water then I wouldn’t be too worried about accidentally breaking it 🙂

This is actually good news. You can now start cooking with it on your head, ratatouille style.

Hopefully it learns the recipes and cooks for you😁

It’s simple. That pothos owns the book now

No that’s so bad because it might learn how to cook and become a Michelin chef and run away from home

  7. If you don’t use the book, just leave him be. Its a realy cool aesthetic.

If you do use the book, then you should be able to just cut it; so long as there are other main root systems

I have a plant stand next to a shelving unit full of jigsaw puzzles. My many vined pothos was growing into the sides of my puzzles. I gently peeled them off, they were fine.

You could cut that vine somewhere in the middle, near a node, and then put that cutting with the root back into the jar, and you’d have 2 pothos vines that will now grow 🙂

He’s just trying to figure out what to make for dinner tonight. He’s hosting for the other plants and wants to make a good impression.

That’s awesome! Give that boi some water

What a weird root! One of my orchids did this up the wall and I had to pry it off recently to repot.

  14. This is actually really dangerous!!! If left unchecked, your pothos is going to slowly become a world class chef and run away to start the next “Hell’s Kitchen”!!

Move the plant to the kitchen. That’s where it wants to be.

My Hoya crawled under another plant pot and grew roots. I ended up looping it around and burying the root end back in the pot. I didn’t really want it crawling all over the places so I kept just sticking long ends back in the dirt after that and it went from a two strand cutting to this beautiful bushy thing. Once an end was replanted it would start growing more vines out of the middle of the loop.

Anyways, you could try that with this one.

Not subtle hint that it would like a more varied diet

  18. Sluts. Mine tried to root between a shelf and storage container

That table runner is beautiful- is there somewhere I could get it?

  20. HighSolstice

I would cut a bit of that plant off and root it in soil, now you’ve got two pothos plants!

When life gives ya lemons your pothos makes a gourmet meal for dinner paired with fine dessert wine

My orchid glued itself on the window sill – I learned that if you spray the roots with water, they will come off very easily without breaking.
