for mother’s day i painted the two of us on a pot with a peace lily in it for her new office. but unfortunately shes not too happy. can we save it? she waters it when the soil dries out (she watered right after these photos were taken) and it sits on a north facing window with dappled sunlight.

Looks thirsty to me! How are you watering it? I would bring it to be sink, put it in a bucket, and completely soak/saturate the soil. Leave it in there for like an hour, and if it feels way heavier than before, there probably wasn’t enough water soaking in!

Is that a clay pot? Those will wick moisture away much faster than a plastic or ceramic pot.

Firstly never put a peace Lilly in terracotta ! Peace Lilly’s need watering twice a week and terracotta will dry it out to fast as it leaches moisture, the plant needs regular watering, or it suffers if she’s not good at remembering other plants like succulents, sanserveria or cacti would be a better fit. Also houseplants do better in a plastic pot around their roots and if you want a decorative pot you should place it it in the plot with plastic one still being used.

Peace lilies like to stay moist. I’d repot it in a plastic container, trim off the dried leaves and place it in a spot that gets bright indirect light.

Have you checked for pests, such as thrips or spider mites?

She might just need to water it more often

It’s not dying just water it and the leaves will perk up again

    Hi sweetie-
    Here goes.
Put it in a plastic garbage bag ( like a cone – so the leaves are standing up)
    and water it really well.
Let it sit overnight then take away the bag /sleeve thing next morning)
The leaves of a Peace Lily are too heavy to raise up on their own.
    Trust me- this works.
After a few days give it some water soluble plant food (15-30-15 is the max number)
    See if that helps 🌼

Could be root rot , I’d check and then water. Slowing yelling leaves is my first sign the root are sick:(

It might have dried out too much, and you have hydrophobic soil.

Peace lillies talk to you, they droop when they need water.

Here’s mine. I keep the pot submerged in water, inside a larger pot. The whole contraption comes inside for the winter. In short, it is impossible to overwater it, but it will dramatically show you when it is underwatered.

This is one of the few plants that will tell you when it needs water. The leaves should be standing up straight. If they flop over it’s already desperately in need of water, but eventually you’ll find the rhythm that prevents it from getting to that point. 🙃

I agree with some comments here that it should be watered from the bottom (sit it in something shallow for a few hours – beware if it’s extremely dry it will float or could force the soil right out of the pot).

Cut away all the dead stuff and start misting the plant regularly and it’s likely to come back in time.

My peace lily never droops in her self watering pot with medium/filtered grow light. They don’t like to dry out.

a peace lily will give you no peace at all. dramatic lil b’s.

  14. In the wild, Peace Lilies are tropical and found near water. They need moisture.

  15. Please tell us the pot has drainage – if not could be roots rotting.

Take all of this great advice, plus I’ve found that peace lilies HATE having dead leaves. It will kill the rest of the plant. Cut those stragglers off.
