welcome to our home tour [Music] Hello everybody Welcome to today’s video Today’s video is going to be a home tour I know a lot of you have been anticipating this video If you’re new to our page our home has undergone a huge transformation in the last year In fact about a year ago at this time we had just started our Ditching the Split series which was the complete renovation of our formally split entry home In the last five years we have made a lot of changes And I think a lot of you are new here maybe aren’t familiar with everything we have done So we’re going to get right down into it Starting today on the exterior of our home [Music] We’re going to start today with one of our newest and favorite projects that we have completed This was one that we actually did about two months ago Now it is our pondless waterfall That is the first thing you see when you come to our home Adding in a pondless waterfall was something we always wanted to do In fact the way that the grass was formally graded We had thought that a waterfall would be a really fun thing to add to the front of our home but it really didn’t seem like something that was even a possibility 5 years ago Fast forward to now we absolutely love our palmless waterfall The entire thing is documented on our page if you’d like to see the construction of that It’s composed of armorstone as well as boulders We had never taken on anything like this before so it took a few tries to get it right but I think it came out better than we ever expected The birds love it the snakes love it toads our dogs We’ve been enjoying the warm weather almost every single night sitting out on our front porch listening to the sounds of the pondless waterfall or watching the birds uh take their baths in the pondless waterfall I want to share with you just a few of my favorite parts of the pondless waterfall Of course we have our frog doing yoga That was something we bought before we even started this project As well as my uh duck/swan we’re not quite sure That was another purchase that was made before this project even started When we moved here there was also a giant chunk of driftwood that had been floating around our front yard We had been trying to figure out what to do with it Our dog kept eating at it And then uh it worked out perfectly that we were able to break off pieces and incorporate it into this project It looks so perfect The birds love having somewhere to sit and it just adds a lot to the project and it’s nice that we were able to reuse something [Music] The other thing you are greeted with at our home is our beautiful PA walkway Formerly this was just a concrete path but because we relocated our front door we needed a new path so that you could get to the front door So initially we were going to do stamped concrete for that but we have a lovehate relationship with stamped concrete We had never installed pavers before but how hard could it be Did a lot of research figured out how to do it and it came out absolutely beautiful Now if there was going to be any shifting or movement it would have happened over the winter We’ve already had our first winter and nothing moves It still looks as beautiful as the day it was installed So we absolutely love the pathway Even like the coloring with the brick or with the stone that’s on our house it couldn’t have been a better match It’s just such a nice added detail that otherwise would have just been concrete Now the stairs which is the grand entrance to our home This is a 14 foot wide staircase which when we were initially planning out this renovation a 14t wide staircase sounded a little excessive But because our house is so long we needed something that would balance that out We also added lighting into the stairs which is on a dimmer because on the brightest setting you could see us from space It is that bright We used composite decking material for the entire front porch And I love the combination of the white with the brown treads I think it’s so beautiful and timeless And then with the white railing as well Um we had been back and forth about whether or not to do white railing or black railing or glass railing was even thrown into the mix We ultimately decided on white and I think it’s just a nicer cleaner look It ties everything together And I absolutely love this entrance to our home Where I’m standing right now was formerly our front door So our front door was actually in the stairwell before We raised it and moved it up So now it’s in our living room and we replaced where the door formally was with a window We just matched it to the size of the other two windows that were already on the front of our house And now fun fact the front porch was initially supposed to come all the way across the front of the house but our permit wouldn’t allow us to build all the way across because we had to be 16 ft off our property line for any sort of addition onto your house Uh whether it’s a porch or it’s a you know full addition So we had to go back to the drawing board and tweak our plans a little bit but it worked out in the end This is the large front window for our living room And had that been covered by a porch it would have blocked a lot of natural light that gets into that room now Plus right below it is our basement And that area oh don’t show all the weeds It’s so bad That area as well still gets its natural light um in the afternoon So it worked out in the end Here is our front porch which is a total dream to have a front porch The first time we ever sat out here I actually cried because I was so excited to see it coming together It felt really surreal This what you’ve always wanted I know Babe I’m going to cry Literally Really Yeah I’m not even kidding This is like sur it feels a little surreal Our patio furniture is from Wayfair All the pillows are from Homesense The rug is Lloy We added a ceiling fan that is from the fan shop which is a Canadian company that so graciously sent us a ceiling fan when we had put out into the world that we were kind of back and forth about about getting a ceiling fan not having a ceiling fan Where we live in Canada it gets hot in the summer but it’s not scorching hot and it doesn’t stay super hot for very long But for the sake of the mosquitoes alone the way that the ceiling fan has already been a lifesaver it’s so quiet It has a light which we don’t usually use because we have lighting but it does have that option It’s seriously the best just to be able to sit out here and not be swarmed by mosquitoes Also out here we have our little fire table We’ve got lots of seating If we ever throw a rager we’ve got lots of seating One of my favorite little finds for the porch is our cooler table So this was another Wayfair find You’re supposed to fill it with ice and put drinks in it I actually use it for storage I’ve got bug spray and sunscreen I’ve got a tripod in every single room A lighter for the fireplace This would be a really cool gift if you need to do a housewarming present for somebody cuz you could fill it up make it like a gift basket fill it up with all their home stuff and then give it to them Or if you’re Canadian and you know what a sack and dough is you could fill this up with prizes for somebody So they get the cooler table and they get all the goodies that are inside Oh my goodness what a pro Okay get comfy cozy This is my favorite part of the front porch There you go So initially we were going to do a porch swing in this area and we still might one day But porch swings are kind of expensive and we already had these chairs So what I ended up doing was just bringing these out kind of seeing how they work And I think that they might actually be better than a porch swing because you can sit next to somebody and you’re not like like sitting awkwardly close to them And my dog can use it This is clearly his favorite spot to be Like I was saying we sit out here pretty much every evening and watch the pondless waterfall eat our dinner Um we do all the things out here And Right Is this your favorite thing Yeah My dog loves to be comfy cozy Speaking of my dogs which clearly love the porch we recently installed the retractable baby gate It’s from Amazon I think it’s also marketed as a dog gate I just needed something that would be wide enough to fit on the front porch and keep the dogs contained so that they could be outside with us while we’re working out here When I posted this on my Instagram story I had quite a few people say that they had purchased this before and their dogs either chewed through it or crawled underneath it We don’t really have that issue Our dogs they don’t really do that They’re not destructive like that and they know that the reason that this is open is to keep them safe So they haven’t really tried to bother with it It’s a cool product and it’s nice that it is retractable It does come with a little middle piece that you’re supposed to put in the middle to stop them from being able to get out from underneath it We just didn’t want to drill into the new decking The dogs love the front porch probably even more than I love the front porch because they love to be able to sit outside and watch the cars go by and bark at the mail lady Okay let’s go inside [Music] Welcome to the interior of our home The inside has gone through some major changes Pretty much the entire main area here was gutted except for the stairs and the accent wall Everything else was kind of changed Oh and the flooring We kept the flooring because we moved the front door over We had to patch the area in the stairwell We also added new trusses to the ceiling in the summer And so we were able to raise the ceiling up and uh turn it into this This is quite a difference from what it used to look like The traditional split entry raised ranch style home We kind of reinvented it with this renovation It is open concept It was nearly open concept uh besides the little wall that was formerly right here Look at the difference It allows so much more light to pass through It feels bigger Um and we were able to kind of make this into one big space Welcome to the kitchen This is really the heart of the home Our kitchen was the last thing we did on the inside of our home during the ditching the split series because we were kind of putting off doing the kitchen because we had actually renovated our kitchen in 2021 So I was a little nervous to share that we were going to be renovating again However the kitchen didn’t go through a full renovation The main thing that we changed was the kitchen island We were able to rebuild it bigger The entire kitchen previously was IKEA so we were able to keep the IKEA bases build a new white oak frame for the island bigger than it was before We turned it to now fit this open concept space and we added a bigger countertop to it We also changed the door fronts on the cabinets in the surrounding area here because with the raised ceiling we were able to build taller uppers And then to make the doors match we had to replace the top and bottom doors So we were able to work with a Canadian company on that called Ready to Paint Cabinet Doors We literally went on Google and typed in like ready to paint cabinet doors in our area And then sure enough there was a company called Exactly that and they were able to create our cabinet doors for us and paint them So the paint color is creamy white by Benjamin Moore I wanted something neutral okay Something completely different from the kitchen we had previously because our last kitchen was a black backsplash with the bright white stark white cabinets It was a very harsh contrast but I feel like for 2020 it was the moment A lot of people love that kitchen Andrew hated that kitchen He’s behind the camera right now And it also tied in the existing appliances that came with the house The black fridge the black dishwasher everything matched when we had it like that We were able to change out our appliances during this renovation We upgraded our fridge to a larger one This is the Samsung bespoke bespoke series It’s that fridge that has the color changing panels you can put on the front It’s all over Tik Tok but we won’t be doing that And our black dishwasher finally broke about six months before we started this renovation so we replaced it with a newer one The stove ended up staying the same but we did rebuild a custom range hood to better fit the space I think that this was actually the very last thing we did in the kitchen All of the hardware is from Lee Valley Tools which is another Canadian business And we kept all the countertops We kept the sink I did change the faucet These were all Amazon finishes inexpensive Amazon finishes which were cost effective for the time but it’s not the nicest of quality So we upgraded to a nicer faucet Um we added in this beautiful large window which really transformed the entire kitchen Before the window was here but we have a beautiful view of our backyard that is so nice to be able to look out and see We can see the whole yard We can see the pool This really just changed the entire kitchen It’s probably my favorite part and favorite change that we made during the renovation We also changed some of the cabinet doors into drawers for better use of storage space This one is my favorite I did different knobs on this section because I wanted it to look like a dresser For a backsplash we decided to match our kitchen island We added the little shelf for storage And we did this iridescent square pile above that which just reflects the light It’s so cute and it’s subtle because I feel like unless you’re looking around like for the full picture this doesn’t stand out too much but when the light hits it it’s got a little sparkle It looks great We also added in a beautiful double sconce I love this kitchen I think it looks perfect It’s beautiful It’s so fun for entertaining to have a clear view of the space a giant island lots of seating The island stools are probably also one of my favorite things that I purchased for this kitchen They were a splurge but if you look online a lot of the times they go on sale so I didn’t pay full price for them And because you needed four of them like those kind of expenses add up quick They have arms they have a back and a comfy seat Everybody who sits in them comments about how comfortable these seats are so I think they’re worth it Here’s our dining room Okay first things first with the dining room I’m going to be changing out this table for a round table I just haven’t done it yet I know that probably doesn’t matter to any of you but it matters to me because the full vision was a round dining room table I just haven’t found one secondhand yet that I really love or that has the kind of look I’m looking for for us to refinish it This one works fine It’s nice and big It extends so it’s nice for hosting family events uh when we have company here And these chairs are supposed to go with the round dining room table I know they look a little funny around a rectangle It’s just what it is for now I absolutely love this light It’s the jewelry of the home Andrew says “My husband Andrew built this incredible sliding glass cabinet for all of our dishes He really nailed this project I think it looks so beautiful We opted to do readed glass instead of just traditional clear glass for this project so that the dishes have a little privacy Still keep a little bit of privacy while What am I saying Privacy I don’t know I don’t know All of the storage underneath is so nice We have soft clothes on all of the cabinet doors and the entire thing is painted the color coliseum marble by Bear which I think on camera looks a little more green than it actually is in person I feel like in person it’s more of like a taupey color but I do find that my camera makes everything look a little bit green Also a big change in our dining room is adding in the sliding patio door So the door we had before opened up into our glass railing and there was other stuff wrong with that door It was just small Forgetting it was small to get through because it was hinged That’s what Andrew says And so we opted to do an 8ft large patio sliding door Now this door was supposed to open the other way Uh which would have made more sense but we didn’t realize that until we were already in the process of installing the door that they had sent it to open the wrong way It was supposed to open the other way from here over It opens from the right I had it opening from the left over And we didn’t really have the weeks to wait for them to manufacture another door So this one works fine Lets a lot of light in We have it open pretty much all well since the spring All the warm weather We just keep it like this Lots of air flow It looks beautiful Having a view of the back deck in our backyard is really nice I think it’s the it would be a selling feature of this house Not that we’re trying to sell but it’s such a special thing to be able to look out and see the gardens and the deck and the pool And making this door larger just allowed for that Plus all the light that now filters in from having a larger door um was a good decision and we’re really happy with it The fireplace is another beautiful thing we added to our home Now the initial plan was to put the fireplace on the other side of the room but because we had this gorgeous vault it felt like a wasted moment to not put it in the middle of the room Otherwise the ceiling for the fireplace would have been sloped which would have been okay but I just think this would be better It was actually Andrew’s idea to put it in the middle of the room And so it did throw a little bit of a wrench in our plans because now we had to kind of reconfigure what the space was going to look like because the living room was going to be at the back of the house Dining room was going to be at the front and I think we’re still kind of working through it because right now it feels it just feels not done So we’re going to come back to it finish decorating over time but the fireplace is really a moment in its own The stone is El Dorado stone in the color lore valley rough cut And then we did a cream colored grout We used extra tile from one of our bathroom renovations to tile around the outside of the gas fireplace insert Our first gas insert actually exploded Everything was installed correctly but I guess the glass that is supposed to be tempered so that it doesn’t explode it wasn’t tempered properly So the company sent us a new fireplace with a box that did say new and improved glass So we couldn’t have been the only ones that had our fireplace explode In our living area another work in progress This coffee table is meant for the basement I wouldn’t replace it with a wooden one I think that that would just look better up here but I haven’t found that yet either So I’m keeping this one here temporarily which means nothing to you people but it just means a little bit to me I want to put that out there because this doesn’t look exactly how I want it to look yet and it will change over time Feel like you’re never really done decorating This is where we’re at right now This whole built-in was something that we did over Christmas last year And something really cool about it was we added in a projector screen so that we could watch movies out here It comes down further I just don’t want to squash my cat Cut the camera Can you do it We changed the bay window for this window instead It’s larger and it is lower The bay window leaked and we just didn’t want the bay window They’re not practical It’s not practical That’s what Andrew says In theory a bay window is really nice I love a good bay window But the way that this one was located at the front of the house and we were already limited on where we could put furniture in the former layout of the room it was just weird Like nobody’s going to come sit behind on the bay window behind the couch And it was just odd It just didn’t work for us So we replaced it with something different I love this window We added in our own take on a bay window here lets in so much more light the way that the sun passes from this side of the house and it’s honestly just become the spot for our cat Carl is here every single day I added the window mounting bird feeder so that he could watch the birds and he sleeps through pretty much every bird that ever uses that bird feeder He’s asleep right now As far as decor in here this is ever changing Andrew really wanted to put cases of water in the shelves and his toilet paper None of that has any value to everyday like So what would you put in there that would have value to everyday use You could put a case of water Well that kind of stuff can go down below in the drawers that pull out The couch was a HomeSense find We bought it during the Friends and Family event We will be replacing this couch Um it’s very very comfortable but it is not at all practical as dog owners Every cushion gets flattened cuz they sit here all day fur just gets tied up into these little the grooves of the fabric We’ll get the couch clean and we’ll put it somewhere else in the house It’s just not practical to have at your living room window Look at how much light is coming in this room And you’re probably wondering where is all your incredible drapery and Roman shade from Which brings me to the sponsor of today’s video which is Two Pages I did not realize what a difference investing in highquality drapery and shades make in a space until we received our order from Two Pages You can go online to their website and browse through a range of products from drapery to blinds and shades What sets these drapes apart are the pinch pleat on the back of the curtain You slide in the little plastic piece that each drape comes with and it creates a beautiful pleat in your drapes In the dining room we hung the holly style drapery which has a stripe detailing with a triple pleat header style We wanted something that would still allow the light to pass through So we opted not to add a room darkening shade as opposed to the drapery in our bedroom which is the Jawara style in the color grayish beige This will allow the light to filter through but it provides us privacy at night Alternatively I opted to hang the Liz linen drapery in the color beige white in our guest bedroom which allows this room to feel bright without compromising privacy The flax linen material of these drapes is strong and it will hold its shape And the color is neutral enough that even the most indecisive of people can change their decor without having to change their drapery too For a little more variety and a darker color option I opted for the Liz linen drapes in the color fog for our living room It adds nice contrast and texture to the room But the star of the show here is the Liz linen flat fold Roman shade I ordered it in the color ivory white It is a cordless shade and the install was super easy I sent over the measurements of the window to two pages and they custom made the shade Andrew mounted the hardware over the span of a few minutes and I could not be happier with this product It allows the light to filter through and it looks so beautiful but it’s also functional and will keep the kitchen cool over the summer Most importantly the style is cordless so there isn’t any risk of entanglement for pets or children if you have them All of Two Pages products are manufactured in their own factory with short delivery lead times and the direct courier delivery of 7 to 10 days It’s no wonder Two Pages products are as popular as they are because they are affordable and very high quality Plus you can fully customize their products to meet your needs and measurements If you guys are interested in placing an order with Two Pages I’ll have the link in the description You can actually get 20% off your order which is huge 20% off is really it’s amazing 20% off is a good deal We’re moving into the juicy stuff This is the stuff people haven’t seen We transformed this hallway as a part of the Ditching the Split series There’s still more work to be done I never did decide on a paint color for the garage door behind me but we’ll get there I love how the hallway is looking There’s still a few more things we’re going to end up doing to it but in the meantime I want to show you some of the changes that this area has underwent in the last 5 years When we moved here this was a closet Right here was a bathroom door The bathroom was a very long bathroom It had a lot of space in it but it did not have a shower It had a bathtub and a double vanity It was like a triple vanity It was like the span of the room So what we ended up doing was making that extra long bathroom into two separate bathrooms We closed in the door We made the closet door the entrance for a powder room Well I guess it’s not a powder room because it does have a shower It’s a three-piece It has a shower but we made the closet door the entrance for a bathroom in the hallway And then the other half of the bathroom became our on suite which you’ll see in a second This is such a small bathroom it’s really hard to show on camera We basically finished renovating it and then also didn’t finish decorating it so it’s very basic but it does have the skinniest shower This is Andrew’s teeny tiny little shower for a little man A little man We’ve got kind of a dog theme happening in this room with some decor I’d love to eventually wallpaper this room and finish it but it’s honestly only really gets used when we have company here so it doesn’t matter Nobody cares In our hallway I hung pictures of us It actually goes in order of our life together kind of It starts with our wedding and then we had Carl but we actually already had Carl I just thought it would be weird to start with picture of the cat as the first one in the hallway Um and then we bought our first home which is falling out of the frame And then we got Aley We adopted him from a animal shelter And then well this is just a happy This actually doesn’t follow in the order This is just when we we were happy And then we got Aspen And then we sold our first home This also doesn’t apply I just wanted to break it up It was just us on a on a trip And then our fire pit which is just iconic And then we did ditch in the split It’s kind of in order The frames are from IKEA I actually have a plan to stain them a little darker I think that they would match nicer if they match the island but that is something for a rainy day Come down the hall This is where the magic happens Giggity giggity I was going through I was going through a transformative period when I hung this light in here Beautiful feature Andrew loves this light but I was definitely going through something in 2020 early 2024 I think it was where I basically wanted to reinvent myself And so I was doing that through the house It’s a little mismatched but that’s okay Look how much light is in this room just pouring in This used to be a window and we replaced it with a patio door so it walks out onto our deck And fun fact this window actually became the window that is on the front of our treehouse Outside we have our corner fireplace which was a 2022 project maybe It’s an electric insert Andrew built the frame for it with our teeny tiny little Michael Scott TV I didn’t think that this was a small TV until I shared it online I still even thought when everybody was commenting that we have a Michael Scott TV I didn’t understand I’m like it’s not that small I think it’s actually an extremely average size But then we got a bigger TV for the basement And then suddenly I became aware that this is actually kind of a small TV It’s very high It’s very high We don’t have to talk about it Andrew built our bed frame while I was going through my transformative period This was the longlost bedroom renovation that does not exist on our page anymore I know I know I think I privated the video from last January where we completely repainted this bedroom We built the bed We hung the light and it looked scary A lot of you lied to me and they were telling me that it looks good and I just know that it didn’t So the very next day I went out in a snowstorm and I repainted the bedroom almost the exact same color that it was before We don’t have to talk about that either The artwork is thrifted The lights are from Wayfair I keep on my side my humidifier because it gets very dry in here This room still has elements of what it looked like in 2020 These are our side tables actually from when we moved in together in like 201 15 2016 from IKEA We never changed them Although it would be nice to eventually aspen chewed apart this one The bedroom is another room that doesn’t really matter from this view though The room has had some changes So when we moved here we actually had two double closets and we ended up changing the one closet door into the entrance for the on suite because this used to be part of the giant bathroom And we made the other which would have come out here We built a closet so that we share this closet I think it’s a Yeah you don’t need to see what’s going on in there This was the biggest change that happened to this room was adding in the ensuite and extending the closet The ensuite is very nice to have I never had an ensuite before and uh we don’t have a door on our on suite We were going to add a door but I don’t know why we never added a door We didn’t care Andrew says because guests don’t use this bathroom It’s just us Let me show you our on suite bathroom Our onsuite bathroom was another 2021 renovation and it still is one of my favorite bathrooms in the house We added in a beautiful stone accent wall behind our black bathtub I remember as soon as I saw a black bathtub was an option I thought that we should get that Had to have it We had to have it I ordered this gorgeous light fixture from Pottery Barn It was expensive for the time I was looking everywhere to try and find a dupe for this light and I just couldn’t find one So I bought the light No regrets This is also a beautiful light fixture And I always said that if we ever move out of this place this light’s coming with me This is our glass shower We have no door on our shower We were going to put a door but we just never did So you can easily wheel yourself in if you were in a wheelchair or walker The shower is curbless All of the showers in this house are curbless which means that there’s no step to get in it You can just slide on in It’s great because the layout of this house is everything is pretty much on the main floor except the laundry So if down the road we decide that we don’t want to live here anymore it would appeal to more people like it would have older people would love this house Somebody with a disability would love this house Um also you like you just never know what could happen to you in life You have the option to age here You have the option to age here You do So this is pretty much our on suite I know it’s kind of like a weird thing to show We spent a lot of time this week cleaning up the house in anticipation for this tour So right now it looks like nobody really lives here Like if you didn’t know that our toothbrushes are on the counter This is just a show home But usually there’s towels everywhere There’s laundry everywhere Underwear on the floor Underwear on the floor Let’s keep going In here is my office This is where I make movie magic happen I have my dual monitor system I also have the TV set up on the wall uh so that we could watch ourselves like narcissists It’s decorated cuter right now because this is a home tour but usually it’s just for practicality I usually have camera equipment everywhere and random pieces of paper floating around because this room has to be uh practical because I spend a lot of time in here We have our whiteboards where we keep track of everything we have to do all the stuff we have to film stuff we have to edit um emails that need responded to Basically everything happens in this space This is really my office Andrew eventually would love to have an office elsewhere You can see our waterfall from every room in the front of the house which was part of the thinking And then we have our spare bedroom So this is the guest bedroom It’s bigger than my office so that’s why we made that one the office and left this one as is This one does have double closets which is really nice for storage but we basically use it for if people come to stay It’s also Carl’s room because this is where his litter box is But I will show you guys This is our Murphy bed So this is our Murphy bed which is really nice to have because just to have a spare bedroom in case you needed it without the commitment of having a bed all the time This is from Bestar Furniture It’s a North Americanmade brand It’s really handy We actually had our friend stay here recently while we were traveling and he slept in the bed for the week and he said it was super comfy What’s also nice about the Murphy bed is all of the extra storage that is on the sides I keep all of our extra bedding and whatnot in here And of course another view of the front porch and the pondless waterfall We’re in the basement now which we finished in 2023 This was formally a very ‘ 70s basement It had concrete floors had paneling on the walls We changed everything down here and basically reconfigured it to make better use of the space The house was used by a contractor before we moved here So he had an office space down here with a separate entrance There was also a bathroom down here It was kind of laid out a little bit odd So we decided to make the area at the bottom of the stairs into a recck room space So this is where we can hang out and watch TV This is the Samsung Frame TV so it looks like artwork but then it also doubles as a regular TV We also do games down here if we have company over We do any kind of like holiday celebration down here because we have so much room for it And we added an electric fireplace This is actually the same one that’s in our bedroom down here After having a gas fireplace and then an electric fireplace I swear nothing really beats having a real flame I love our gas fireplace but this one is still very beautiful It generates heat It’s nice and cozy in the winter This is the window that you guys can see from the front of our house As you can kind of tell here it it hasn’t stopped any light from getting in Oh it’s lit up It’s lit up Andrew says “You guys ask all the time about how the renovation affected the lighting and this room is not affected From about 3:00 onward this room gets all the natural light So we have the windows frosted because we didn’t really care to have a view but it’s bright Um nothing changed down here The lighting is actually better because we took two trees down That’s what Andrew wanted me to tell you This we joke that it’s our airplane sofa because it has storage under all of the seats which is your stowway Your stowaway It has lighting underneath the seats as well for accessibility and the um what are these called Things open Armrest open You could also eat your meals at your seat First class First class And then on this side it plugs in so you can charge your phone So we call it our airplane seat It’s just like such a funny design the amount of things that this couch can do It is very comfortable We also love that these cushions come off so it becomes almost extra wide It’s nice for napping This is the fun zone We have air hockey We have our built-in bar We have no real drinks in the fridge Right now we haven’t done much entertaining yet this year Anyway this was part of the basement renovation as well putting in the basement bar This area is off of our pool so if we do have people come over in the summer it’s nice that we could bring the food out and have it on here And then basement cuz it’s a walk out basement That was one of the the perks of this home uh is the fact that it has a walk out basement And then in this area is a little gaming area We have Miss Pac-Man Andrew went through a phase where he was obsessed with this thing And he started playing it at like rapid speed like faster than it’s supposed to be played at And it was ridiculous to watch him play Miss Pac-Man and he made it so that nobody else wants to play it because it’s still set to that extremely fast mode Um and we never changed it He probably has a score of it’s high It’s high And then he also took an interest in piano one Christmas Uh so he got a little keyboard Taught himself a few little jingles I love musicals So have that We have our 1 million subscribers plaque I was just really proud of this so I wanted to hang it somewhere that people would see it This is our favorite bathroom in the house This was one that we also added during the renovation Now the original basement bathroom had a blue toilet and a blue sink So as a little homage to that we did blue tile in our shower It also has a nice beachy pool theme Also this vanity all of our vanities are from the same company because they are always beautiful Incredible craftsmanship Everything looks gorgeous All of the joints are dovetailed It is a little bit pricier but you definitely get what you pay for because we’ve never been disappointed This is my favorite vanity in the house I love the color of the wood It’s just so gorgeous Okay it’s my turn for the tour Oh I I thought that this Oh it is your chest hair Ow Leave it This is apparently my time to shine This is my dungeon garage um workshop storage car repair tool storage equipment storage DIY center I have everything you could possibly need This is our garage our lower garage So directly above me would technically be the office and then bedroom And these two windows are the windows that were covered by our porch that we built Like I say they are part of the basement Um it doesn’t really bother the lighting because you can still see out them So anyway this is kind of where we do a lot of our smaller projects where we store all our paint our tools um charge our batteries our lawn equipment any sort of equipment like our pressure washer paint sprayer ladders things like that This is honestly pretty much just storage for all of my stuff Extra building supplies cement mixer and then if you come over to this side this is also a little bit better of a work area The lawnmower is usually here and the tractors on the other side But to put into perspective directly above us here would be the garage that you see from the driveway So you would have our driveway is on that side of the garage and you come in the garage and then the door at the end of our hall is located directly up here So I know a lot of people are kind of confused about how we say that the windows were in our garage but you see our garage up there because it’s a walk out basement The way that this garage which was an addition um was built you can see it’s a concrete kind of like poured like a parking garage So that you have a garage over top of a garage And again this is just more storage drywall plywood stuff like that Um we have a little bit of organization over there for miscellaneous building supplies like electrical PP tile drywall stuff But I clearly have way too much stuff I need to organize a little better and maybe get rid of some of the stuff I have two and three of But this is the lower garage area There’s a little bit more on the other side of this wall This was technically a garage and then a garage beside it before this was added Um the driveway used to come down and this opening that’s cut here used to be a garage door And then when we look outside you see a garage door over there That was the original other half of the garage Over there is just the furnace water heater So technically down below here it sounds insane but there’s four garages down here It’s one two and then three and four because it’s like a double and a double And then the other two up top would make it six car garage for this house which sounds insane And it’s full somehow 5 years ago I didn’t have a garage Where did all this come from I don’t know My vision for this space if we were ever to get to it which would involve a lot of planning and work would be um to kind of mirror what’s upstairs from the door in the basement I would get rid of that door and I would make it a hallway and I would put a door here just like above which would lead into the garage and this would be sectioned off So it would be pretty much exactly what you see upstairs double garage and then living space And I would probably do another office down here and maybe like a bedroom or a storage room or something And on the other side of there I would close off the furnace and um water heater in that to create kind of a mechanical room And then that could be a whole another room over there We could open this up somewhere to make another room And the plan above that which is honestly never going to happen which would be really cool though would be to actually extend the living space all the way to the center of this And you would basically build a wall under this beam and then um insulate and everything And you’d have a single garage here And this whole area here would all be living space You could do basically a whole separate suite here because you would have a garage with access to a door Um you have a nice big window You could do a kitchen over here living room kind of a bedroom and then you could do your bathroom over on the mechanical side where all the drains and that already are but that’ll never happen But it’s just the potential is crazy here what you could do And there it is That’s the garage door I was talking about There used to be one beside it So it would just be like basically two garage doors This building here the garage wasn’t here before This was added after Um and the driveway was extended over there The driveway actually used to be where this garage was So you’d have to come down this tight hill and turn into the garage So in the winter you can imagine how steep that is I’ve got my truck stuck down here before So coming down I’m sure you’d slide and end up on the lawn So it was a good idea to add a garage upstairs This is the steep driveway that I was just mentioning Coming down here in the winter it’s very icy it’s slippery if we ever have to come down So what I would love to do is do either like um interlock like we did out front or just concrete do a little landing here level nice and flat out the door And then I would just do steps a landing steps down the side of the house Only about 3 ft wide so you could still fit a vehicle Um but I think that would be really cool to be able to do that And then on that side we kind of want to cut the driveway back maybe 2 ft and just do some plants and stuff along there so it’s not just driveway and weeds because what are you going to grow in there It’s just trash There’s no soil It’s trash Horrible This is our upstairs garage Um when we first moved in within the first year I think I started building the gym I had some of the equipment Um a lot of it I got secondhand But anyway the one half of the garage is our home gym It’s a pretty nice setup We’ve been kind of slacking just because all the work we’ve been doing but want to get back into using it more This is our upstairs garage Nice tall ceilings As you can see downstairs they’re only like just under 7 ft so you can’t stand a sheet of plywood up It’s a real pain to work down there Um but no cars in here either We like to park outside and use our garage for junk First thing that I did buy um right when we knew we were moving here was I ordered this um power rack from Rogue Fitness and the bar I mean it’s the best you can buy I didn’t want to have to replace it or upgrade later So I spent a little bit of extra money and got this I didn’t want to take up too much room So I got the adjustable Boflex dumbbells They go from 10 to 90 lbs in 5 lb increments So those are really handy They don’t take up much room This was a freebie people were moving into a basement and it was in the way Um so I took it into two pieces and literally dragged it up the stairs put it in the back of my truck and brought it here So that was great This little hexar Amazon cheap but it does the trick I built the platform for the squat rack out of two well out of four sheets of 3/4in plywood And then this is actually leftover flooring from inside the house And then just 3/4 in rubber So it’s all nice and flat This adjustable bench I bought off a friend for I think like 20 bucks He was moving into an apartment So I had no room to bring that These weights these were custom made during CO when you literally couldn’t buy anything because nothing was in stock and everything was way overpriced So a machine shop actually started selling weights So I ordered those Bad Dog Fitness just cuz it sounded cool and we were going to do a mural of Aly on the wall but that didn’t happen elliptical I bought off a friend for I think it was like a hundred bucks but it works great and I’m glad I purchased it And last year I added a heater to the garage just an electric one One of these Um it’s like a 7500 watt heater So I added that because this garage gets really cold It is insulated The ceiling and the walls and the doors are insulated but it’s like a refrigerator If it’s not heated right if it gets cold inside it’s going to keep stay cold Just cuz it’s insulated doesn’t mean it’s warm It has to be heated to be warm Like duh I want to thank you guys for watching today’s video I hope you have enjoyed the home tour and seeing all of the befores and afters of this space This house has really gone through a huge transformation in 5 years and uh we couldn’t have done it without you guys taking the time to watch our videos So we are so appreciative and I hope you have enjoyed watching Maybe you can use this as some inspiration from your own home Don’t forget to like and subscribe and we will see you guys next week for another new video Bye [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

    15 minutes later:
"We'd like to change them out. Aspen chewed apart this one."
    LOL!

Yeah, I can't imagine not having a door on my bathroom. That room demands privacy. But thanks for the home tour!

  2. Bay windows are great for houseplants. If you don't have houseplants or perhaps glass that you like to display, bay windows would be kinda useless. I loved mine in our previous house. It was full of houseplants.

  3. Andrew, as someone who loves their shop space, I don't think you will be happy getting ride of the shop space if you don't need the extra bedrooms.

  4. Don't say it's never going to happen. Anything is possible, especially if you guys are doing it

  5. πŸš¨β€ΌοΈπŸš¨β€ΌοΈπŸš¨β€ΌοΈβ€ΌοΈπŸš¨β€ΌοΈπŸš¨I just saw a AI ad for their design app. And your in It with your house and garden. I screen shotted it if you want to see it.

  6. "That'll never happen" Andrew we all know that you have those reno plans READY πŸ˜‚ but really, excited to see whatever you guys have planned for your next project

  7. Not that it's any of our business what you guys plan to do since it's obviously your house, but I would do Andrew's idea of a separate suite in the basement and then turn that single garage into the home gym. You could get those giant bug screens for garage door openings and be able to work out with the door open looking at your gorgeous backyard! Then you would have two (basically accessible) living spaces AND you could even park inside in the top garages. Extra bedrooms would boost your ability to sell it (if you still plan to) as a family home, you'd have the option of renting it out, or having parents at home one day if needed

  8. Hey! Does Twopages have a Canadian site? Seems their prices are in USD and so after the exchange is.. no thanks lol

  9. I been with your ditching the split series. I love you home it's so warm and just beautiful. I wanted to know where get those portraits done with your babies. It has their pictures, names, and how to pronounce them as well as a description of each baby. I would love this for my 5 babies. ❀❀❀

  10. Everything is absolutely dreamy!!!! Love it all and I so enjoyed watching the transformation over time. Thank you for bringing us along!

  11. Absolutely gorgeous guys!!! Very inspiring! Suggestion: maybe a tree at the top/back of your waterfall? A weeping japanese maple would be my pick! It all looks so good! I would cry at that porch, too! ❀

  15. I think I commented the last time you did a home tour… but I grew up in a very similar home in Massachusetts minus the extra garage and the pool. I lived there in the early 80's so my memories of that home are of the late 70's paneling in the basement. We had a wood stove downstairs and a wood fireplace upstairs. We also had the bay window upstairs and it was definitely under utilized. I remember my dad used to stack chopped firewood in the garage so we could use the wood stove to heat the basement which was also finished. We had a home office, laundry room and two seating areas, one by the walk out and one nearer to the stove. It's been fun to see how you modernized the layout.

  16. I want to say Thank you both for sharing your home and all of the amazing work you both did. I wish I lived near you because your ideas are what I want to do with my house. I Love everything you have done and my favorite is your front porch looking out to your water fall. Everything you have done is exactly what I want to do to my house. I can’t wait to see what is next. ❀❀

  17. That is so beautiful! I personally also prefer the original plan of switching the living room and the dinning room, I think the entrance would be way less crowded, feels much bigger and there would be a place for an actual TV

  18. Absolutely beautiful! I have enjoyed watching your renovation. You are an amazing and talented couple. I can't wait to see what you do next. ❀
