I removed the sand added soil to replace it. I also added a food bowl and some twigs, and removed some stones from the “pond” because it wasn’t allowing easy access to water after evaporation. Still planning an arid environment with arid plants, and still hoping to get a friend to live in here one day. I would like suggestions on inhabitants that would be suited to this tank(with species specific improvements) the only limit being no snakes and no large arachnids. My partner won’t approve, but anything else is fair game. Important notes: shallow substrate, live plants, and this is a work in progress. I keep aquariums and prefer to build a tank and figure out the problems and routines before getting the pet.
