all right we just rolled up i am going to take you to a backyard that is definitely not like many backyards you have seen this one is very very cool it’s very zinny it’s got a little modern flare to it i’m very excited to bring it to you let’s [Music] go all right what’s going on i’m Bobby K i’m a professional landscape designer general contractor and I am pumped to show you this because this all started with the design like any backyard space any front yard space you want to start with a plan and this plan was executed to perfection let’s jump right into it i’m going to give you lots of tips if you’ve got an intimate space if you want to bring a little bit different aesthetic to your space if you want to see a template that isn’t like every house in the neighborhood this one’s great here we go okay so opening up the first thing you get hit with are these incredible pavers by County this is called Essence and what I love about them is this plankked look they’re only about four inches wide believe four to five something like that but then we put a lighter sailor border so we’ve got majestic here and vision and then we picked a rock which is called Smoky Mountain which goes very well with these guys and then of course to highlight this Japanese maple we even frame that and put a little bit different rock which goes close to the vision so all of the rock and the hardscaping is coordinated with why well with this right here they already had a stamped colored concrete patio and walkway so we wanted to pick something that works well with this and doesn’t clash so we went with the grays and the lighter scale as you can see I don’t even know how we got this boulder in here this thing I’m not kidding is probably close to 3,000 lb it took three guys on a machine to keep it weighted down just to set it there and plop it down but what you’re noticing are all these transitions cuz they have a deck up here some stairs that come down and then you see I’m kind of going down aren’t I huge hillside going on here so the problem is they don’t have any usable space but now by showing this upper level and essentially flattening it out now they have a ton of usable space and they’ve got all these transitions that take them to different destinations so you can go up there you could come under here we got a little wall to hold everything in frame everything in you see it’s very zeny i’m going to get over to that in a minute and then of course the furniture that you pick out that is another tip that is definitely going to help with whatever vibe you’re going with furniture is key so if you want to go with that sin modern some of the different elements that we’ve pulled from here they pulled this kind of tiki but light colored furniture which goes with the lightness we actually put all this under the deck and because it’s covered we didn’t have to worry about a gutter system to catch all the water and out because it’s not going to drip there but what I’m getting at is this furniture with this tiki vibe the little rug they got under there boom you come over here and what does it do it hits the privacy screen that we have which is a backdrop to help create privacy from the neighbors got some European horn beams and we’ve got a cool focal point it’s a beautiful water feature by Blue Thumb i love these things it’s just a basin you plug it in you have water in it and then look at that just a nice easy tranquil beautiful flow so you’ve got this privacy screen that’s a slat look and we’ve got the darker poles that goes well with the furniture we picked a paver which goes well with their existing concrete see how all this is flowing together and we’ve got rock that flows with the color theme of [Music] everything as you come around over to here you kind of wind around now you see the neighbors you didn’t see that before because of that and you go out this way so you got the gate here boulders nice little privacy screen you come around what are we going to see i have no idea oh hey how you doing how’s the game put a TV right there of course or you just get a book hang out and chill there point is this is a space that wasn’t a space there was a couple concrete pads and there wasn’t much going on now we have a continuous flow here you got transitions you got picking the right colors and the right materials that go with everything it was purposefully done that’s why you start with the design and now this very hillside backyard has an area where you can hang out [Music] multiszones looks beautiful adds value to the home this is what you do if you want to see another design go check out this one if you need help with the design go below i’d love to help you this is Bobby K saying creation is everything so go out create see you on the next video [Music] keep going till I got it i won’t give up

  1. This is amazing! Definitely more inline with the style I'm going for. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Hi! Do you take submissions from subscribers? Our front yard is on a serious slope, but we can’t afford the to do any sort of step/terraced beds, let alone the time the maintenance would take. We have a HUGE tree messing up the mojo, too, so there’s just no room for curved beds, depth, or bringing trees out into the yard for interest. I’ve been trying to think of a solution for years but have no idea where to start!
