I bought this guy as one of my first 3 plants back in early may! I was brand spanking new to house plants, and string of plants had my interest. When i bought her, she was full and perky at first, and the vendor said she had just been watered, so i let her chill in her nursery pot for about a week. Well, the very next dayc she started losing a TON of leaves, and my partners mom experienced the same issue with her string of turtles. I repotted once in new soil (just basic indoor mix and perlite like a noob) thinking it was just too wet, and when the growth stagnated and stems yellowed, i knew i had to do something different.

Luckily, that pretty well known "string of" advice post someone made a while back showing off Botanica desert substrate mix absolutely saved its life! Im so glad I live near Botanica and have easy access to this soil for my string of plants. I repotted all my succulents in this substrate and they are really thriving now! I bottom water probably almost once a week since shes indoors in really great sunlight, and she finally started producing some new leaves! Its been pretty hot here, so i test for dry soil pretty often.

Even the little wimpy vine in the lower part of the pic has roots coming out of the side and is growing a new bud. I cannot be more grateful for reddit as a resource right now!

Way to go OP!! This was a smart call and it looks like your pearls are very grateful! Congrats on the success! Not every plant will pull through but it’s so rewarding and reassuring when they do! Excellent work!!
