My fockea has been slowly losing its leaves and then the branches just break when you try to handle them. The caudex feels firm to the touch and I don't see any signs of pest. I was wondering if its trying to go dormant, but I don't recall it having a dormancy period. Any suggestions?

I water once a week in summer, unless it rains. Kept in part sun, part shade with about 3 hours of direct sun.

  1. What zone are you in? What are your day and night time temps? Is that a topper or does it go all the way down? If topper what is the soil mix. How long have you had the plant?

  2. Looks a bit overpotted. What hemisphere are you in? In the US at least, this plant should be growing pretty well. Brittle branches and no leaves sounds like a watering/ root issue to me.

Have you checked for rot? It looks like there might be a crack on the bottom part in the first picture. I would scoop out the first inch or two of soil to see that the caudex looks like.
