Okay I just got back from a trip to Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois, and a bunch of the butterfly weed down there was red too. I had never seen anything like it I had to stop the car and get out and look, but I’m so happy to see your post. I’m glad I’m not crazy.

All the butterflyweed I’ve been seeing along the roadways this year is extra vibrant, bordering on red. Super eye-catching tbh.

My “Shell Pink” dead nettles sported purple and nost of them have stayed purple.

I’ve seen some that are a deeper dark orange but never seen red!

Maybe it’s just me, but that looks dark orange, or red-orange at most. But yeah definitely a different shade than typical orange butterfly weed

I never heard of one that came in red. Start propagating that puppy and go into business fir yourself!
Reminds me of tropical milkweed, but I think yours is much prettier.
