I know that the self sustaining ones are closed and sealed, in order to simulate an environment.

This one’s mighty open though. Do you think it would just need normal room humidity to live?

I think you dont need to water it because the flora is dried, more of a shadow box situation than growing plants possibly

I used to make tiny terrariums like this. They don’t really need watering, but you might put a couple drops of water on the foliage if it’s looking thirsty.

I might give it a tiny mist now and then. The moss, that is.

    Wait, are the plants real?

I’m tempted to advise a monthly dunk. But I think maybe just keep an eye on it until it looks to be in need of water?

You don’t have to water fake plants

If you’re interested in living plants that take humidity there are lots of air plants to look into. They love bathrooms. (Because of humidity from showers). Keep in mind, it does t take much for air to dry out and your plant becomes ..compost.

Those are dried plants. Dried plants do not require care, water, sunlight, dirt… you name it, and you can forget about it. If you’re doing any work, you’re doing it wrong. About the only thing you need to worry about is pests. No, not bugs, I mean like mischievous nephews. They could swat it off your desk, breaking the glass. But I think you might be the sort of dedicated dried plant parent who can keep Aiden at bay. Good luck on your quest.

PS: Wrapping it in bubble wrap is cheating

  8. That doesn’t look real to me. Id cut off a small portion of the moss and tall guy and see if it actually dies in a dry environment 🙃

If it does, im sure a tiny amount of water in the gravel or a mist to keep the humidity up would be preferable

They are likely air plants which generally don’t need to be watered but soaked every couple of months. you should ask why it doesn’t need to be watered for more clarity lol

I had a simular one with a cactus. It died.

If you’re still unsure, gently touch the plants. If they feel soft, moist, or flexible like real foliage, then it might be a live moss or air plant.

This is an “air plant” and just survives off of ambient humidity.

You’re thinking of a terrarium, which is something different

The leafy plant might be an air plant but the other looks like a moss. Regardless, even air plants need watering by misting or occasional soaking. There is no plant that doesn’t need watering.
