we do have loveage over here look at the bees are buzzing buzzing happily we also have some parsley as you can see down here it’s from parsley and all the beautiful brasa flowers and my garlic is getting actually going to scapes so the garlic scapes are forming it should be June but anyway this is a 4year-old plant it’s gone to seeds it still gives you lots of leaves all those leaves are edible which we enjoy in our smoothies hello everyone and welcome to a new video how are you doing this is Mecca and this is my backyard garden and hopefully we’ll learn something or two and get some inspiration about growing in a small tiny space my first experience with growing was in a small balcony in my former house it was a rented apartment and we managed to grow some corn some tomatoes and a few herbs now fast forward a few years later we got our own house but we didn’t have a lot of garden space so if you have a look we just have a little we had a little garden where the boys wanted to play football and we were thinking how do we make the space work thankfully the previous owners had this borders all across this back and also there so we could plant however on this side of the of the house as you can see we’ve got bindweed and this is really from our our neighbors property and bindweed if you know if you know anything about bindweed is almost impossible to get rid of so this is one annoying look where it’s coming from it’s coming from across the way so even when we get rid of ours if it hasn’t been gotten rid of from the other side it will cross over like you can see here because of the bind weed and the lack of sunlight on that corner we can’t really grow a lot there although I have managed to grow tomatoes and potatoes there this has been our main stay and subsequently I decided to get these beds now I have two beds on this side and one there it’s growing lots of strawberries and they are in flower they’re doing looking really well and actually some fruits are forming this bed here I plant whatever I can put it to be honest and this here we have beautiful scarlet broad beans which is looking so good i’ve got a huge bit of rocket wild rocket here some onions and a few carrots that are from last year oh and that’s fennel as well that’s fennel it’s actually not carrot i thought it was carrots but it’s fennel that’s interesting yeah I thought they were all carrots definitely looks like fennel to me so some self-seeded herbs here and there over on this side oh I need to st these gosh the slugs are having a feast i stick this right away so these peas this peas should have been staked long long ago but once again life life has happened to them so I’m just going to do a quick steak and how you can do this on the go when life is just busy so just going to It’s really overgrown this is my tomato bed and we have flowers already which I’m so happy about um they don’t look the healthiest these ones out here have actually had to deal with the frosty nights and they will pick up they look healthier in the sense that they are bigger but they are struggle they have struggled with the cold but yeah um this is my little backyard space tiny space growing all this like how many plants do we have here so many tomatoes we’ve got garlic we’ve got onions we’ve got herbs we’ve got rockets we’ve got some um broad beans and then we’ve got some fruits so here I have this black currant that are here two different types of black currants then we’ll go over to our herb corner and I’ll talk to you about how you can actually grow lots of herbs in a small space and with really little or nothing so this th here that looks like a massive bush is one from one little supermarket port like you can see there the supermarkets will sell them about4 or£3 a port and you can multiply i have thyme here i have also th there i have some coriander selfseed every year it will come back because the seeds have fallen here the year before and I also have here some tagon french tagon is really nice um it’s a young one I bought last year but it comes back every year it’s another perennial that is good and then over here this massive bush here is my oregano like look at this oregano guys this is from also one of those tiny 4B supermarket containers that you get and you can grow this much herbs it just spreads easily look at the bottom here it spreads and spreads and spreads actually can be invasive so you do need to contain it because it could be invasive another herb I have here is sage and sage is in flour and I love it because the see the bees are having a nice feed here because they are in flour so tiny space can give you so much food you don’t have to have a massive i know some people don’t have the luxury of a garden and that is why I said my first growing space was just a little balcony so you can grow in containers um if this video has inspired you to grow a little like you don’t need a huge space look at this bathtub it doesn’t look the most prettiest but we’ve used an old bathtub to grow herbs and we can have fresh herbs to really spice up our cooking so just a little space will give us so much food if you can just look at it differently change the way you see things okay when we first came here this was like obviously a lawn and I thought I don’t want to eat lawn i don’t want to eat grass i won’t actually eat food yes my boys would love to play football here but what would be more beneficial to the whole family and for me mentally and physically is coming out here once in a while to do some gardening and that’s why I decided to make this little space a garden from home so this is it yes so on this border now we can grow tomatoes once this brassacas are finished i left the brasacas in because the bees are enjoying the flowers um some greens are still being picked from here as you can see we do have perennial kale here i have also one massive perennial kale tree this paranal kill tree is about 4 years old believe it or not it’s a very very old plant this is a 4year-old plant it’s gone to seeds it still gives you lots of leaves all those leaves are edible which we enjoy in our smoothies and this is good food okay so this is my little space tiny space as always you can use this space you don’t need to have an allotment space the things on the ground here are plants that will go mostly to the alotment the sweet corn although I will container plant some sweet corn um the herbs I will talk about them in a different video because that’s a special video for that and tomatoes also I have made cutings and I will talk about them in a different video okay so we’ve come to the end of our video today have you enjoyed this video has it added any value to you if it has give us a thumbs up and don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t yet and until next time see you in another video
