Lawn care isn’t really my husbands passion and it’s important to me so I’ve taken over this year! I’ve been creeping for awhile and gotten super helpful advice here!
We are northern Canada so cool season, I’ve improved the health of our lawn quite a bit since spring with regular watering, fertilizing and weed treatment. Still some weeds persist as you can see. I’m planning on aerating in the fall. Now that I’m on a regular schedule of fertilizer every 6ish weeks and weed treatment should I mow the lawn higher like I did this time (doesn’t look as nice)… but will that help to grow it healthier and choke out the weeds long term. And now it’s just a waiting game? Any other recommendations for someone just starting out?

Looks great, you can leave it longer in the hotter months of summer and cut shorter in the fall if you like. Sounds like you know what you’re doing.
Looks aight and by aight I mean AMAZING!!
Good job 👏
Keep the grass tall in peak summer, to help with water retention and better chances to fend off weed seeds flying around. If you wanted to make it pop, you could apply some chelated iron, but not necessary. Next is to get some rotary scissors for some edging. Looks like clover near the sidewalk there, no biggie, spot treat it.
Aim for mid to late august for fall aeration, overseed and fertilization. Start bringing it down slowly

Looks great. Keep it up. Yeah, higher for summer.
Looks great!
I would edge the sidewalk/walkway to tighten everything up. Then handpick any weeds that pop-up since you barely have any. Otherwise everything looks great! Neat house!
Mow high (around 3-4″) so it stays healthier in the heat.
Cut back on fertilizer in the summer and only use it if you’re watering regularly.
Do you have a string trimmer? If so, turn it sideways and edge around the walkways. It looks real nice on tall grass.
Your lawn looks great already, but here is a cool season lawn guide from one of the users here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LawnAnswers/comments/1krmr9x/cool_season_lawn_starter_guide/
