This mofo 😡 I LOVED it when I first got it, the purple colors made my heart sing….and then it got needy and insisted I water it more than I wanted to. And then when it wasn't getting enough attention it decided to dazzle me with beautiful little white flowers so I gave in and watered the little shit. But I couldn't keep up with it and it eventually decided to succumb to it's ailments….until I noticed new little buds on it this week as I was about to send it to plant heaven and now I don't know what to do with it….it's leaving little brown crispy shits everywhere 😭

Yes the stupid florist kalanchoe. I put it outside hoping it would succumb to the heat. Its living its best life.
I can’t quite get myself to toss it because there’s nothing wrong with it. I simply don’t like it. Such a boring plant when the flowers die.
Yep. I tend to hang onto plants too long if they are still “growing” even if in bad shape.

Yes, this one, hate it!
I have lost every single version of this plant I have ever gotten, total masochist.
What is the name of the plant?
Peacefully? No. In a bonfire? Yes
This plant has no business being a houseplant. It’s meant to like spread, dying off the old growth as it goes. It can’t be kept pretty in a pot for long. Mine was a few feet long but the rooted part had died which slowly suffocated the rest. Apparently you’re supposed to put the ends in another pot to root and it like “moves in”, then you cut the old pot away.
But that’s so tedious.
I can keep an alocasia alive but I can’t keep a tradescantia alive 💔
Yep, I usually just take them to my neighborhood take a plant leave a plant and let someone else love them. 🙂 check facebook most areas have them.
My freaking never never plant. Never happy. Never convenient. Never going to die, though. Every time I think it might be hitting the point of no return, it shoots out a few more leaves.
Tear off the dead bits and give it more sun. It’ll bounce back. They do get a lot of brown leaves, but you just have to regularly snip them. Those plants like the “perfect” amount of water to sun – you just have to figure out what that means for this particular one 🤣. Don’t give up!
Stick that asshole outside. It will grow into a luxurious colorful ground cover with tons of lilac flowers just to spite you before it freezes and croaks in December.
It’s a kindness ya see.
I had a bitch ass prayer plant. Miserable thing. So I was planting a hydrangea in the yard and needed a little black soil, so I dumped the damn plant in the bottom of the hole. A month later next to that hydrangea was the most beautiful prayer plant you ever saw. The leaves were enormous and so bright! Anyway it died that winter after four months of living its best life. I’m still irritated and that was 25 years ago.
my own pink tradescantia absolutely refuses to kick the bucket. she throws leaves constantly… and then she just makes more. no matter where i put her, she’s either burnt to a crisp or leggy as hell. usually both. it’s horrible and i’m resentful.
No guilt, send it to the green waste bin.
It’s sink or swim in my house. If you’re not thriving, you get a ticket to “Rehab”, except instead of a pool party in Las Vegas, rehab is the outdoor greenhouse for a few months and next stop is the graveyard if you don’t rebound (pile of pots on the side of the house between the shed and the fence)
I have a Silver Sword philodendron that can go home to be with the Lord. The way the leaves grow… I just… ugh. Lol
Feel the same about my pink princess. She’s putting out a bunch of new leaves and they are all ugly to me.
I have the same tradescantia as OP. I fell in love, brought it home, it immediately began to die. I stuck it out on the porch where I put plants that are failing to thrive and leave them to decide their own fates. Now, of course, it’s decided it wants to live and is happy and thriving. 🤷🏻♀️
I used to hang onto every half dead plant I had (“if there’s green there’s a chance!”), now I just chuck them lol
Anyone who has a plant they want to put down can send it to my SPCP (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Plants)
Yup.

This stick that just won’t die. 😐
Yes I had a nerve plant that was fighting for its life for like, 8 months, before I finally called it. It wasn’t happy, no matter what I would do, but it kept tricking me because it would look really bad for a couple of days and then randomly would decide to stand up straight. I went through that cycle for months, until just 2 weeks ago, when I noticed that the soil was staying moist a week after watering and the stem itself was starting to shrivel. It was sad because I really wanted it to survive. Strangely enough, I have another one that’s also been stubborn, but this one is now thriving. I guess I’m only meant to keep one at a time lol
I had this plant but I angrily poured beer into it when it gave my monstera thrips. I hated this thing so much.
I have a hospice section.
I give them the minimum supportive care, no life saving measures.
The survival rate is pretty low.
Dude just toss it. It’s totally okay to throw away plants you hate!
The brown crispy shits is me and asparagus fern.

I feel so seen rn
I love this group so much!! You all take thoughts out of my head and create posts!!
Yes, I’ve had plants that were on their death beds forever, and to put them out of their misery made me feel like a murderer! 😂 😭😩
