I’ve only had it for a month! I didn’t repot it (you can see that it’s in a smaller pot inside). I put it in the bathroom near the shower for humidity. I’ve been watering it once a week. After 2 weeks, I added Miracle-Gro Tropical houseplant food to the water. The bottom leaves started turning yellow too! It gets about 3hrs of direct sunlight then the rest is indirect.

  1. What direction does the window face? If north, even direct light might not be enough

So you check how the soil feels before watering? If you don’t check or it still feels damp on the surface, it could be overwatered

once a week in high humidity is probably overwatering. always check soil b4 watering. don’t go by schedule.

you might wanna check the roots

My instinct is telling me the humidity is too high. I keep my monstera in a room that I kept shut 24/7 (I have cats who can’t stop eating it). I water it when it is dry. That’s about every 1.5-2 weeks in the summer and every 2.5-3 weeks in the winter. I would recommend taking it out of the bathroom.

It’s not getting enough light and may be watered too frequently.

Always check the soil before watering. Changes in weather and season can affect how often you need to water.

Based on what you’ve said I suspect too much water. I don’t see why humidity would be a bad thing considering these are tropical plants. And as long as it’s getting enough bright light all day then the only thing it could be is too much water. I wait for my monsteras to sorry up completely and then wait a couple more days to water. They are in clear pots so I can tell when the soil is bone dry. I’m not saying this is the best (I know I should water the very day they get bone dry) but they are still thriving.

  6. Those self watering pots keep the roots too wet for this type of plant. Also needs more light

There are two windows right above it. It gets direct like for a couple hours a day from the west window.

Maybe move to another spot. Sometimes they don’t like where they are. I’ve found someone you need to move until it starts to change how it’s looking by giving a week or two in different spots till you find the sweet spot. But I’ve you find the spot won’t move him again. They hate to be moved but this isn’t the best spot. They like scattered sun. So at least close to a windows where it can see the sun a bit. Also did you repot it? If not a lot of times it’s over watered from the stores so I always repot in fresh soil and check the roots while I’m doing it. Make sure they are white and don’t fall off easily. This is probably the issue.

I water mine THOROUGHLY, every two weeks. Trust me when I say these things are VERY tolerant to drought. You need to stop watering so frequently. Neglect is love ❤️

It doesn’t look like it gets long enough time with sunlight hitting it. Also too much water to deal with since it isn’t drying out between waterings.

Too wet and too dark. Monstera is an aroid plant. It loves water but doesn’t like to stay wet too long. It grows up tree trunks in the jungle absorbing moisture from the air and bark of its host. I don’t think humidity is an issue but the soil needs to dry a bit between soaking. Also near the shower could expose it to chemicals in your soaps/shampoo etc as well as providing additional watering that you aren’t accounting for. I think the pot is not the issue. You can check by seeing how crowded it is when you pull the plant out of the pot to check for rot

My monstera is huge and thriving without high humidity, I just mist it periodically. What it does need though is a lot of light. Move it near a window and bottom water it. Get a hair mister bottle and mist it every few days. It’ll be fine. Take it out of your bathroom.

How far is it from the window?

    Is the glass frosted?

To all of those speaking to high humidity, the bathroom won’t effectively increase humidity. The issue is most likely a lack of light and the soil staying moist for too long.
