The common ginger is a perennial plant with upright stems and narrow green leaves.
Ginger grows from a rhizome, and it produces light pink coloured flowers in inflorescences.
But the gingers you buy from the store are grown for the edible rhizome, and the flowering may not occur.
However, you can plant the rhizomes in pots/containers or ground and grow enough gingers for your consumption, and more, if you like.
Common names: Gingembre, Inchi, Zencefil, Zingibro, अदरक, Shunthi, etc.
Scientific name: Zingiber officinale; Family: Zingiberaceae
