BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – The Downtown City Partnership of Bangor is kicking off the longest day of the year with their Annual Summer Solstice Garden Party on Friday.
The free event is a way of celebrating the Adopt a Garden program that works with volunteers who help to maintain over 150 garden plots in Downtown Bangor.
It also serves as encouragement for citizens to enjoy the beauty of the many public spaces that Bangor has to offer.
“Cities have been designed with gathering spots for people where you overlap with your neighbors. You see people who you wouldn’t normally see, you interact, and it’s actually really good for everyone to do that and we like to remind people of these public spaces and of the opportunity to connect with other people and encourage different ways that they can be used to create senses of community.” said Betsy Lundy, the Executive Director of The Downtown Bangor Partnership.
The Garden Party will be from 5-7 PM in Norumbega Parkway and will feature the gardens of Downtown Bangor in full bloom, enjoy light refreshments, lawn games, and live music.
You can also enter for a chance to win a pair of tickets to see Old Dominion on July 3 or Kidz Bop Live on July 5 at the Waterfront Concerts Maine Savings Amphitheater.
