Im in the deep south our tomatoes basically always think they are not going to live its so hot down here. The more leave you have the more shade and thus cooler your plant will be. Iv never had any issue giving them to much nitrogen be it from organics or synthetics. They are basically always fruiting once we hit those 90+ days you better hope you have some giant leaves shading your flowers.
You should really do a side by side example of this, because it sounds a lot like trust me bro science. It sounds really good but I've never heard of it nor had that problem. This year even, I stuffed my bags full of some SUPER hot mix and they're putting out fruit sooner than any of my plants did last year. They grew up fast and immediately started flowering. I'm talking a mix of build a soil, worm castings, chicken poop, vegetable mix, and some unused ocean forest potting soil. It was HOT HOT. So maybe it's if nitrogen is the only available nutrient in abundance or maybe after a certain threshold, or maybe even for certain strains and varieties. Again it sounds great and probably a good thing to keep in account but never heard of or seen it cause no fruit.
I think 'lose most of your tomatoes' is an exaggeration. Growing up, my parents always used the miracle grow liquid feed 24-8-16 (3-1-2 npk nitrogen ratio) and had tons of tomatoes.
I can see this being a thing though if you're using a 30-0-0 or maybe a 30-10-10
I read that I should fertilize every 2 weeks with neptunes tomato liquid fetilizer which is basically fish. Do you still consider this a no? I live in Ohio just down from you. I have raised beds filled with compost and topsoil.
How ridiculous. Tomatoes don't grow for the plant but for the seeds, just like every other living thing. Grow healthy to be able to produce healthy offspring. I think blossom end rot is the #1 problem for tomato-growers.
I don't know but I've been growing tomatoes for 40 years. And with some good doses of miracle grow for tomatoes. With extra nitrogen seems to grow the best tomatoes and plenty. of Em.

They grow like weeds. Ignore them and let them produce
I would have planted that tomato much deeper.
Sooooooo, how do we fix it?

I like to think that tomatoes reproduce not because of survival but because it feels good.
I use alot of nitrogen and my plants are as healthy as can be sooo..?
I need to find that lady on here asking why her tomato plant is 4 ft tall but has not produced a single tomato! She needs this video!
How ridiculous.

Very good information!
This is utter nonsense.
My fingers hurt thinking about assembling all those beds. Just taking the plastic coating off is difficult.
