Today I’m planting hosta for full sun! Who knew there were sun hostas? Not me. I’m also planting a Tamukeyama Japanese Maple Hedge, and taking a quick visit to Lowe’s Garden Center to check out the clearance plants. Hope you enjoy this garden vlog and get a chance to do some gardening. Let me know what you’ve added to your garden.

hi there YouTube excuse the glasses but I could not get my right contact to work today like for the life of me it was just hurting my eye every time I put it in does any other contact wear relate to that because that doesn’t happen to me very often but it did today if you guys haven’t watched my container garden update tour I just posted that yesterday so be sure to watch that but today I thought we would plant the two tamuk Yama Japanese maples I got on clearance and then I also have two hostas to replace the hostas that were in the Sun that I put in the shade but now I miss the hostas so now I want to plant sun hostas does that make sense these are the two chuki Yama Japanese maples that I got on clearance for literally $5 each I truly wish that I would have picked up more of them because now I found a spot for them and I’m going to be creating a slight hedge of them um at least I’m going to be planting these two together you know what I mean this one right here you can see that below the graft line they grafted this tree right here you can see where the graft is and below the graft is just the regular Japanese maple not the lace Leaf tamiama if you have a grafted tree you want to always take off anything that is growing underneath the graft because it’ll take energy away from the top graft and you purchase the top you don’t really want what’s on the bottom and then I have two Sun hostas right here didn’t even know Sun hostas were a thing like anytime I’ve seen hostas I’ve only been seeing them in the shade and everyone tells me they’re just a shade plant I can’t believe that they’re actually Sun hostas one of these is called sun power like literally it says give it the most Sun you can possibly give it so I’m like cool I can do that also I have a guacamole Hosta and the description on this one also said that it can take full sun so we’re going to try that out and experiment with it I’m genuinely curious to see how they do these are already really sprouted in the package so let’s go ahead and just plant them up a few days ago we took out there was a big daddy hosta right here in front of this tree stump and a big daddy hosta right here that was when this apple tree was actually alive so there was a ton of shade in this area so we removed those big daddy hostas and planted them in the front underneath the big honey locust trees and then we planted two EOP panies which are doing really well over here I was thinking though I really really missed the texture of that the hostas used to give against this tree trunk so I’m thinking that we can plant two of these Sun hostas here so maybe put one right here in between the two etopan kind of tucked in front of them and then maybe one over here just to kind of soften this tree trunk as you walk walk around it I love the way that this looks I love how natural it is I love the ear on top of it but I think that softening the base a little bit is going to go a long way to making it just look a little bit more natural and not just protrude out in the landscape you know and I’m just going to use my hand shovel for this cuz no need to bring out that augur for just this but I am going to bring out that augur when oh no there’s landscape fabric here I forgot we ran out of cardboard right here so this little area has Escape fabric we only plan on leaving this in for one season just to kill off the grass and then literally next season we’re just going to tear this up because I don’t want landscape fabric here let me go grab some snippers to cut it though cuz I can’t just dig in that’s the main reason I don’t like it wow I cannot believe that this camera battery only has 15% I’ve been filming so much lately that I’ve been filming like two videos a day for the last two days 3 days and I charged my microphone but I think I forgot to charge the camera classic which is fine I have another camera that we can use in case this one dies we are at the very least going to get this one video done today planting depth 6 to 8 in oo I’m going to have to go down a little bit further then this is the sun power nice healthy sprouts and Roots the Roots look really good too just going to tuck that in all right I will definitely be adding drip to this because if I don’t it will die but I don’t think I’m going to do it on camera because we only have 15% Oh yay this isn’t landscape fabric there’s just a little bit there perfect this is where we had cardboard it literally just stopped right here and then that’s landscape fabric great another little Sprout it looks nice and healthy there we go this also helps me Mark where I planted something by putting this some coconut core cuz I can see it cuz if not that just looks like a little blade of grass popping up or something now let me show you guys where I was thinking about putting those two Japanese maples [Music] I was genuinely thinking right in here underneath the elm tree as you’re driving up the driveway you’ll see this waterfall of those tamuk Yama Japanese maples and I swear if I can get back to that store I’m going to try to convince Matt to go back to the store today because if they have the other ones that were there I would love to just put them up here and make it a full Tam Muki Yama Japanese maple hedge wouldn’t that be gorgeous like because the driveway goes up at an elevat they will just waterfall down this curve I think that they will look so so pretty you can barely see them on camera but that red lace sleeve when these get full and are Weeping down to the ground it’ll be gorgeous around this corner and then maybe I can find the other two I think I need like two more maybe three to make it really Lush and I’m going to go grab the augur for this one because that’ll just make this so much chees here it’s so nice I don’t have to worry about drip lines or sprinklers or anything today because there is no Irrigation in this bed the only thing I could potentially run into is tree roots why did I say the only thing I could run into is tree roots are you kidding me oh my God that’s a huge root I’m like not even joking let me show you I wish I was joking there’s like a big old route right here you can kind of see where I tore it dang it let’s try this again take two [Applause] [Applause] okay I think we got one hole so I guess we’ll just cover that one up maybe I’ll just spread them out a little bit more or try in front of it I I just don’t want it to get too much into this well I guess it could cuz this is just a curve we’ll just try to the side of it were there roots in there yes but I don’t think that they were alive they feel really rotten and they’re just breaking apart yeah I think that that may be from the previous tree that was in this bed there was a tree right here that they chop down and I think it’s the roots from that tree not from this tree because they were [Music] rotten It’s Kind of Perfect okay that root ball kind of fell apart I feel like when that happens I normally don’t have the best of luck with trees so we’ll see how this goes not too much to lose though since this was $5 yes my camera did die but I pulled out my cell phone and look at them they look so good you can barely see them right now because they just don’t have a lot of growth on them but eventually those red lace leaves are going to just be billowing downward as you pass this curve which I think is going to be so pretty I can’t get over them I really want to go back and get more I just feel like it would just be even more impressive if they went all the way down hi there YouTube we’re pulling out of the driveway now and I have a smile on my face because guess what I convinced Matt to take me to Lowe’s so that we can go hopefully pick up those other Japanese maples I’m hoping that they’re on clearance so that we can just do a full hedge now that I have it in my head I really really want to complete it but we’ll see what they have such a good [Music] sport to every Gardener’s favorite place the garden center the manager special is still going on today only a dollar but I don’t see the Japanese maples no you don’t see them either do you n no I knew they would go we should have grabbed them while we could the following day and as you guys know I came back empty-handed for my search for more tamuk Yama Japanese maples but honestly I thought about it I discussed it with Matt and I think we’re going to move this one over to where I put the other two in the driveway to create a full tamiama hedge mainly I’m thinking this because one I can’t get more of them for $5 two all three of them are the same variety and three I can always find another Japanese maple to fit this space I really did want something here that was going to get a little bit taller anyways this one is a weeping variety so it’s not going to get that tall it’s just going to be a beautiful specimen and I really think I want to grow something here that will give me a bit of a canopy to kind of cover up this ugly Tin Roof I know some people like tin roofs but it’s not my thing um appearance– wise the sound of it when it rains though is the absolute best let’s dig this up and Transplant it this should be really really easy because I mean we just planted this a day ago but I want to make sure to get the whole root ball so I’m going to do like that we got it and let’s go transplant it that already looks so much better I bet you guys can’t really even tell because of the sun and the color of these trees but I’m going to go ahead and dig this in I hope all three of these take because it would be so nice if in you know a couple years from now I can be like I planted this tamiama Japanese maple Hedge for $5 I feel like people will be like wo didn’t run into any tree roots that time which is [Music] amazing I’m going to go water that in and then we’re done thank you guys so much for watching this video if you like it give it a thumbs up let me know what you think about the tamuk Yama Japanese maple hedge did I make the right ision moving this I think I did I truly think I did I feel like when you have an element like this that’s kind of special it’s better to go ahead and plant them in a group because you’ll get a way bigger impact than planting these separately and they’re probably planted a little close together I kind of want that I almost want it to appear like it’s just one tree and I will see you guys for whatever video I come up with for next time bye guys guys

The right contact issue: yes! Happens to me all the time! Hope those Japanese maples take off now—nothing better than a clearance score 😊
