  1. I enjoy basil tea, I snipe it and add it to my raspberry, lemon balm, oregano, and chocolate mint for a fantastic tasting tea.

  2. Lemongrass and Basil are a staple in my garden. I put my lemongrass in a pot last year and this year. I have 3 types of basil this year.

  3. Sorry, I have to laugh. "erbs" in Australia dialogue relate to city suburbs. ie What urbs are you looking to buy a house in? Herbs are what we grow and eat. This is not a criticism on cultural pronunciations etc just something that tickles my funny bone. Great video again thanks

  4. Also Luke, I thought fennel bulb carried allopathic hormones causing other plants to not grow in it's vicinity and thus you'd not what it self-seeding?

  5. I put my oregano in the garden last year. This year, it's absolutely going insane! I don't necessarily mind because I've been drying a lot of it, and I also gave some away, but boy I really have to work to keep it under control!

  6. Good tips as usual. Hopefully that rainbow kind logo in your cap don't celebrate that you know what month? Because if it does it's instant unsubscribe, because like so many others I am also done with that nonsense. Hopefully it's not.

  7. Thanks for the tips … especially on the soil and watering. I must admit I have struggled to germinate basil seed this year but I do now have some healthy seedlings thanks to my small propagator, maybe it's too good 😁as some of the stalks shot to an inch long before the first leaves.

  8. I'm having a struggle with basil this year in the garden, we've had so much rain the leaves have begun to turn black. I've picked them all off and hoping it will recover. I'm one of those "still picking out fennel seeds" out of my garden…😫. Fennel and dill both feed my swallowtails but………I don't mind dill as much since they don't have that bulb that is horrible to try to pull up.

  9. I've killed basil. But this year, my basil is doing good so far. My mom had mint in her flower garden. Loved it. And the only other herb I've grown successfully is dill.

  10. Thanks for talking about the herbs and using your Trifecta plus. I didn't think about them and now I will. That totally makes sense. I will be applying some to them this week. I can also vouch for the mint issue. I told myself at my old home that I didn't care if it overtook the raised bed because I love it…however, it took over some of the other herbs which I didn't like. At my new home, any mint family herb is in their own container.

  11. I know you don’t answer comments, but I trust only you. I learned to make sourdough bread. There is leftover wild yeast, I have seen people tell you put it in your garden the plants will love the good bacteria. I have learned so much from you, I watch every video. Hope at some point you could answer the question “Good or Bad for your plants.

  12. I think Queen Anne’s Lace=Wild Carrot and has hairy stems. It gets confused with Hemlock which is poisonous and has smooth stems 🤓

  13. So right about dill. It went to seed last year and now I have dill outside of my herb bed. Sorry if I missed it but parsley and cilantro both grow well. Cilantro came back this year. We plant parsley from seed. It does well fir us.

  14. I would have planted lemon grass at one end of that bed. Mine gets so big. And dill is another huge plant. I sprinkled my dill seeds all over my gardens. Where ever they come up is fine with me! I can't keep my basil from flowering! Even tiny plants grow flowers. I guess it's my low AZ desert garden that maks them flower much!

  15. Thanks for another solid video. A few years ago, I started a garden at the California Conservation Corps as part of a college course. I teach there every winter and spring now. We planted a bunch of herbs that first year, and even though the students have changed a few times since then, those herbs are still going strong – and still some of the favorites. When we got started, we used a mix of local compost and worm castings, and that gave them a great boost early on. You’re definitely right about some herbs taking over. We still have lemon balm and catnip popping up all over the place. We use them, so it’s not a problem, but you really do have to be careful about what you get started in a garden.
