Hi! Our new house came with a beautiful monstera deliciosa, however it did not like the renovation period ( it was placed outside a few times and had been accidentally watered by too many people, leaves were severely damaged by people walking into it and even had paint etc on it). We already planned on repotting since the current pot has no holes, but as it was dying we decided to chop and prop first to save as much as we can.

At the base I saw 2 active nodes before I chopped but now there are even more and all of them actively growing! As far as I know monstera only grow from one vine (?), not multiple so would it be better to chop up this base stem into multiple pieces? It seems like it would be possible to chop it so that each section has one node and one root going into the soil, however I do not know if all root systems are healthy.

Should i repot it (or at least uncover the roots) first and let the chopping depend on the condition of the roots?
Or is it better to leave the nodes together on one piece either way, hoping it branches out into multiple vines?

I did leave one leaf on this base section, however it shriveled up already, so now there's no leaf, just the nodes.

(At the moment it's standing in the middle of the room, getting plenty of light, but no direct sunlight)

The monstara I have is growing from two vines on one root stock. You *could* just have a very busy plant that you need to water more frequently. But it’s also up to you.

There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s attempting to put out growth because it doesn’t have any leaves.
