Had a retaining wall installed about 2 months ago, which I posted about here. Seeded with Jonathan Green Black Beauty Ultra (1.5x the recommended new lawn rate), raked it in, applied tenacity to prevent weeds during germination, applied some starter fertilizer at around 3 weeks. These pics are right after the second mow. It's almost like I know what I'm doing. Wife still isn't impressed. 😆 She's a tough critic.

I’m in MA, for reference. Rules specified I needed to add location to the post.

Do we have the same wife?!? Looks incredible man!!

JGBBU works so well here (in MA as well). Looks great. If your wife isn’t impressed by this, all I can say is I’m sorry

  4. So I love the results. I’ve done similar in the past, but I have a puppy who only uses the front lawn, so lost products that have to be watered in are a no-go until she is older (as she murders the grass one spot at a time).

I’m trying to train her to only kill one section, but it’s…tough.

I’m in a similar boat but was told to wait til fall. Northern US as well. Guess I could have done this in the spring. Looks amazing dude

Amazing. So plush. That’s got to feel great. What a journey!

She may not be saying it but I’m sure she’s impressed man!

  8. What the actual fuck? I’ve laid down some premium KBG seed on the last weekend of April, starter fert and everything and the grass still is struggling.

    I’m jealous.

  9. I’ve never noticed somebody’s footsteps down the stripes before until this post. Is that normal for people with perfect lawns?

How much did that retaining wall cost you? I live in a similar area based upon the fact that I keep getting ads for the company who did your wall.

Is tenacity like, an effort, or a product? New guy here.

What was your watering schedule? I’m fixing my front in the fall with soil and seed.

Meanwhile some of us pay “professional” landscapers many thousands to install in ground sprinklers, fine grade, hydroseed etc etc etc and end up with a patchy mess that the landscapers say “oh, it takes a few years to establish a good lawn” Good job mate!

So good! Oddly enough, I think I’m mostly impressed by that retaining wall. Thing’s a beaut. Great decision making all around.

Great work! You literally just raked the soil after applying the seed?

  16. PacketSnifferX

You applied the tenacity right after raking in? I know it’s turf grass safe and shouldn’t impede the seed germination but I’m still nervous about applying it to new seed.

    Looks great btw 🙂

I had the same results last year, also northern US. The problem for me was this spring after winter, it seemed half of it died. It was all patchy and needed to be reseeded again.

I couldn’t believe how well it took last year just to be let down in spring. It’s finally coming back now after some work but it definitely doesn’t look like it did a year ago.
