I love my baby, I’m very tempted to pick up another one. I’m just unsure if I have the proper space for another monster 😩

What size is yours now after a year of personal home care?

Damn I was there yesterday and they didnt

  3. Just how it works. The “rare” plants will get cheaper every year as more people grow them.

If it makes you feel better, I spent $200 on a 3 leaf albo with great coloring and thick white lines in the stem only for it to completely revert back to all green.

I really can’t personally justify paying more than like $50 max for something that grows and produces more of itself..

Don’t feel bad. I spent 220 for a tiny baby that was in a 2 inch cup 3 years ago.

I was gifted a $300 Thai from Ecuagenera for Christmas three years ago. It was a three leave rooted top cutting with rust fungus and I was grateful to have it 😂 (fwiw still am, it just gave me a massive leaf). Bought a $200 Thai the size of my car last year for my birthday. Just how it goes. If you enjoy the plant, that’s all that matters.

My local nursery was selling them for $200 either last summer or 2 years ago. LOL

  10. I’ve been burned so many times with spider mites from HD… ugh

  11. I saw a couple in my local nursery for $100+. Then I went to Lowe’s and saw it there on clearance for about $13. The joy it gave me when I saw it for that price I immediately snatched it up.

If you buy another one, it’ll bring your average cost way down!

Calloways still have the babies for $50 last I checked. Great find. Mine got too big for my apartment and is now in retirement at my sister’s house lol!

  14. Ooh.. I need to make a stop at HD and take a look.

I did too but I bought one at home depot too

I got a sweet deal and spent $125 for two tissue cultured ones as a Christmas gift to myself a few years ago so I know your pain (that said, I haven’t seen them for cheap in any local stores. Would still consider spending way too much for a nice albo)

That said, I haven’t seen them cheap anywhere locally and I would still probably spend way too much if I could get my hands on an albo…

Dang sounds like it’s time for me to finally get one!

  19. my local/regional chain had a large number of TC when I was there this week. About the same size, $60. I didn’t see any of the HD in same city. Walmart has had them for like a year, at $30. Always good if you can shop around, but it’s also a gamble because prices and availability can vary. Remember when Peperomia pila were so spendy….then everywhere….now gone (sort of)

I can’t remember what it’s called but there’s a mathematical equation that relates how yearly released farmable products get cheaper each year, until it hits the floor for that type of product. Happens in exotic pets, happens in plants, happens in fish, etc
