Hi everyone! My parents moved out of their house and gifted me this plant they had! Can someone let me know what type of plant this is and if it needs a new pot? The roots are growing out and I noticed a few yellow leaves that I removed when they gave it to me. Any help is appreciated! I’ve been watering it once it’s dry-ish and it sits in bright indirect light

You’re gonna need a hammer, a gentle touch, and a lot of patience to repot that. It looks very healthy though.
Is that pot plastic? If so, you should cut it off with a very sharp blade like a razor. Carefully cut the plastic away on the bottom as well so you don’t hurt too many of those roots. Then definitely put her in a larger pot so she can breathe!!
Looks like a peace lily and it definitely needs a repot, they don’t like going completely dry, they actually appreciate humidity. They’re also very dramatic so they’ll get droopy when thirsty, not to worry because they’ll spring back up once watered.
I’m not 100% sure but it kinda looks like a peace lily. My mom has a lot of these around her garden. As for the roots, for something that is sticking out of the bottom of THAT MUCH should probably be repotted. If it’s plastic, I would just take a pair of scissors and carefully cut the pot open down the side. You also may need to cut the tiny holes open that the roots are sticking out of. When I worked at my local nursery, we had a huge shipment of yucca that looked just like this, and I had to do the same thing. If it’s terra-cotta, you can just take a hammer and smash it. Be as gentle as you can to the roots you don’t want to disturb it too much.
If you don’t want to snip roots I would just cut that soft growers pot off of it
