Last week i posted what I think is rot that was happening on my E. Japonica on some of the growths, it was losing leaves, turning dark brown and getting soft. Today, the main growth has gotten deflated on the side where i removed one of the rotted growth and the others have continued to turn dark brown, but not all fell soft. I have unpotted the guy and checked the roots for pest. The roots look ok to me, but the soil was quite humid. I dont see any signs of rot at the base so That checks out. What do you guys make of this?

The last 2 pictures are from last week.

I would cut off every single pup/head and if it still bleeds latex, I would try to propagate it. Anything that doesnโ€™t bleed latex I would throw away as itโ€™s too far gone. Itโ€™s weird because the roots look healthy. So this is just unfortunate.

  2. I would start by popping off one of those unaffected pieces ASAP so you don’t lose the plant. Let it callous over and root it separately.

Beyond that, standard surgery rules for succulents. You have to carve out the infected tissue until you get to firm, uninfected tissue. Most people use a craft/xacto knife for this. Beware rot travels the interior center of a plant, so check that – there can be a thread of rot extending up from the main gooey tissue.

Once you’ve cleared out all the goo/infected tissue, treat the wound with peroxide and then seal it with horticultural sulfur and let it sit a few days to callous over. Then start the rooting process over.

  3. Where can i get some horticultural sulfur? Does Amazon or home depot have it?
