in today’s video we are going to be talking about a simple and easy garden plan so today we’re at my son Logan’s house and you’ve done a lot of work here in these landscapes here yes I have touring out every plant and bush you possibly could right so you have a nice clean just working area um full sun garden you’re a zone 5B 5b yep so plants that are hardy down to at least a zone 5B and then yeah we took a lot of plants and tried to figure out when they bloom so early mid late season color we mixed in some shrubs with some perennials and also you wanted easy to grow plants exactly more low maintenance yep cuz you’re a busy guy yep putting in a lot of hours at the greenhouse so you don’t want to have a a fussy garden you want just something that’s easy to maintain so let’s go ahead take a look at the design and then let’s take a look at some of the plants that we’re going to use in today’s video sounds good here is the garden design so if you want to take a screenshot of what we did you can do so now but let’s go ahead and take a look at the plants that we chose for this garden space so what I’m doing today is I’m going to put in my focal points basically I’m going to start here with my shrub i got lilac bloomerang dark purple is what I chose to go with we’re going to put that right here because I need to fill in this space and dark purple will get four to five feet tall we’re going to move to what we call pugster blue and that is going to get about two foot tall and wide and that’s going to be a summer to fall um type of bloomer so I’m going to put three of those in put one there i’m going to put one here and I’m going to put one here the last one I’m going to put in is a check mark trilogy wilia and we’re going to do that over in the corner here so this right here will get to about 3 to 3 and 1/2 ft tall and um this is going to be an early summer bloomer as I continue laying out some of the stuff here after my shrubs I’m going to do my perennials i’m going to start here with my flocks i’m going to put my first one here i got a couple more here and I’ll just let you guys know that this is summer blooming we’re going to put another one right here so next according to my list here I got two Daisy May these are also summer blooming and these are going to go right in between the flocks there and right there i’ll have one more flocks I’ll have to put there later on now we’re going to go along the front here i wanted to go with an early May type of color i’m going to go with denths we’re just going to evenly lay these out here and then what I’m doing is I’m deciding to go 18 in off of my driveway roughly and then they’re spaced at 4 and 1/2 ft apart so let’s lay these other couple out here and then that basically is going to be the front of the garden along with my denths I wanted to do another early season bloomer i decided to do Iberus we’re going to put one here so just kind of as you come in you just see that white right on top of that pink there and then also we’ll take this other one here and I’m gonna put that right here so it kind of takes your eye from the white there all the way across the pink and ends at the white here also one thing I wanted to mention is I had to move my denths a little bit closer just so that when I put the iberus in it didn’t look out of place so instead of going from 4 to 4 and 1/2 ft apart here we’re now at about 3 and 1/2 to 4 feet so there are a few more items I just want to add into my um garden here first I’m just going to do Veronica i’m going to do more of a triangle type of shape kind of like that this is going to be a late spring early summer bloomer and then also we got a little bit of a bare spot over there so I think I’m going to add some nofia actually one of those so I’m going to put my neophia right here that is going to be a summer bloomer and then also we are going to add a loopin i don’t really know if it’s going to uh perform nicely we’re just going to try it out see how it goes right there so back to the Veronica here what you can do is throughout the summer if you trim them back you’ll get a little bit more of relooming which that’ll allow the plant to grow a little bit bigger quicker as well what I got here is Pulmania Heavensent these right here oh my goodness they smell so amazing so we’re going to put that right here and then also I was just kind of looking i got um a little bit of a blank spot here so as I told you guys earlier in the video how I was only going to do one neopia on the far end I think I’m actually going to take another nofia and just put it right here also this lillock right here as I said earlier it’s supposed to get about four to five feet tall and as well as spread and so I don’t honestly know and I’m about to find out if the dark purple bloomerang is going to overtake my napia it may after a couple years a year or two I’m not totally sure i’m just experimenting in this area of my garden I’ve noticed there’s a lot of um more of a rut type of base so we’re just going to be kind of taking a shovel here just kind of working it around and then planting here [Music] one thing you guys can see here is I have a lot of whirly birds from the maple tree next door so one thing I’ll just kind of have to watch is just um basically just spraying a little bit of weed killer just pulling the weeds and um [Music] yeah one thing you also see me doing is I just kind of throw my pots and tags and then at the very end I’ll come by and pick them all up [Music] one thing you’ll notice is that when he’s planting he’s not tearing apart apart the roots or ruffling the roots or anything like that um these plants are very nicely rooted but we don’t really find it necessarily necessary to do much with the roots especially at this point in the season [Music] another thing to point out is he’s got these Eco Court pots you notice he’s taking the plants out of the pots we do not recommend planting these in the ground um we just find that the plants do better if they are removed from these compostable pots [Music] [Music] nothing more rewarding than white pots all over the yard huh you made that look so easy and quick man it was pretty quick it’s a hot one though you’re sweating yep you did a good job so if you have any questions or comments on any of the plants that we did put here or that Logan put here in his garden um feel free to leave questions in the comments below and if you’re new to our channel we welcome you to subscribe we’ll also be putting links to the various plants that he used in this project too so if you want more information on them if you go to the description click on the link you’ll be able to go to our website and just get all the information you may be looking for thanks for watching i’m Heidi and I’m Logan from Garden Crossings

  1. I love that you put random plants to fill spaces and mixed up colors. Not just one color for each area. Would love to see this garden after the plants get established and full bloom!

  2. Great video, I like that you started with the focal point plants first and then filled in the other areas. I have a new build, blank slate garden and have bought a Dogwood tree, a lilac and a viburnum so I will triangulate them and then start filling in as you have shown. I am learning to buy plants in 3's 5's 9's to make my garden more cohesive.

  3. It would be cool if someone set up a timelapsed video showing a garden from initial planting to full maturity…

  4. Hey Heidi 🌺 They are beautiful plants and they will look amazing in his garden. He arranged them beautifully in the ground .Have a wonderful day. 🌻🌺🌻🌺

  5. I can't wait to see this fill in. I'm doing the same thing at my house this year. Where I live in central valley CA it;s recomended to plant using a starter mix fertilizer. I didn't see you add that to your planting holes. Wondering why the difference. I'm in zone 9B. Thanks for your time and sharing your knowledge!

  6. Hello Heidi, I live in zone 8a & I have a bed in all day sun. Can I use these plants? Are they perennials? Do you have any suggestions on a corner plant?

  7. This is going to be such a beautiful cottage feeling. Flower garde. I love all the colors you put in the garden. Its going to look so beautiful in about a month. Logab you have a good eye for planting plants. Heidi please give us a update on Logans Flower Garden. Love your channel.❤

  8. Amazing job Logan! Can’t wait to see the progress later in the summer. Good job Heidi ❤😍🪻🌸

  9. Great video again Heidi. I look forward to seeing this flower bed over the rest of the year. I planted the Bloomerang Dark Purple in 2024 as a bareroot in zone 4. It came back with new leaves at the base with a few blooms on the branch tips. What should I fertilize it with to help it grow and come back stronger next year.

  10. He did a great job, that's a garden space and plan that most of us can relate to. I'm sure it will look beautiful. Enjoy.
