My Zygosicyos pubescens had some rot about two weeks ago.
After talking to a few people on here, I ended up cutting away the rotten part until I got to clean flesh.
As that dried, I then noticed that it left an area where water could pool in the future, so I used my concave cutters to make it a more flat/vertical surface that didn’t cup at the bottom.
It has been sitting in front of a fan both for airflow to keep mold away, and to help the wound dry.
Now, a deep fissure has formed as the wound has been drying. It goes back maybe an inch and extends downwards past what you can see maybe 3/4 inch.
I’m worried about future rot forming there when it goes back outside, as I believe the fissure would hold water.
The first four pictures are how it looks now. The fifth picture is right after I cut more away with my concave cutters. The sixth picture is how it looked when I discovered the rot. The last two are how it looked after I dug out rot the first time.
Does anyone have any advice or general comments?

I don’t have much experience with caudiciforms. But I generally dust my cacti with sulphur powder to minimize potential for rot.
