I figured out an easy way to move round bales with clamp on pallet forks. I usually have problems getting the forks under the round bale, and I haven’t “forked out” for a bale spear yet. I probably won’t with how easy this is.
Basically line up the forks the way you want vertically and then as you back up, bring the bucket down and pivot the bucket so that the round bale is tipped over by the rope and falls right onto the forks. The rope can be used to keep the bale stable on the forks. It just requires getting on and off a few times, where a spear would be one and done. What do you think?
Also it’s super easy to net the bale while it’s still on the forks before dropping into place.

Let’s say your bale is 5 foot wide. With 3 feet sitting on the ground. Put your forks out to about 4 foot wide in-between. Then you can roll up to the bale with the forks about 3-6 inches off the ground and you can grab the bale when you pick up without having to force the forks in the ground or push a bale around.
This will eventually break the netting but long as your only moving them 3-4 times they normally hold. Then lift up about 3 feet off the ground and run a razor blade down the bale in between the forks then the rotten bottom falls out and place it where you want. Might even wrap some of the net around the pallet fork screw down and let it all rip off.
