Finally got around to finishing this up and getting the ground cover to my liking. Looked like I might dig it out of the ground at one point.
What do you all think of the flare exposure on my back yard silver maple? Should I have just left it alone after the last pic? Is it worth doing this to the front yard silver maple?

Oh, you may get keyboard warriors yelling at you for the paver ring. They look skinny (light) and potentially even rubber. I doubt they will be any harm so take their words with a grain of salt. It’s not like you laid a double high ring of cinder blocks around the tree.
