I think it depends on what you’re growing and what you want. Some fruits/veggies need lots of space to grow at all. And some fruits/veggies could technically grow in small spaces but they won’t get very big.
Looking up dwarf fruit trees, they aren’t just small but they require different needs than the standard size. Google says they need to be staked because of poor roots, they need more watering, and they produce less and smaller fruit.
Plants need room for their roots. You could maybe grow a strawberry in a coke bottle, but larger plants need more room for their roots or they wont grow at all.
That wall rack seems perfect to me for a horizontal strawberry farm. They need quite a bit of sun and a lot of water, but it should work even with less than ideal conditions. Just don’t pick the most demanding type.
No you cannot grow large fruiting plants in those sized containers. Need at least one gallon.
In those containers I’d say perhaps strawberries. If there is enough light of course. The bigger the pot, the bigger the fruit. Again depends on light!
I think you should try. Just be prepared to fail.
Stick with the tropical species & they’ll grow. You may need to add grow lights or a fan to maintain a stimulated natural habitat. It can be done.
