An update from my post a few weeks ago about deciding to offer native plants as wedding favors — we’re looking good!! I’ve got butterflyweed, smooth blue aster, spotted bee balm, and black eyed Susan’s. Turns out the boiling water + soaking seeds trick works great on seeds needing cold stratification. Highly recommend having 7 bridesmaids on hand to help you repot and write labels 😅
I’ve got more at home I’m waiting to pot, but I’m actually so excited to give these out guests! I’m putting up a big sign explaining why it matters to us and printing QR code stickers that will link to a Google doc explaining everything our guests need to know + putting out info sheets for older guests who will not want to mess with the QR code.
If I’m going to pay all this money for a wedding, I might as well use it as an opportunity to foist my love for native plants upon people 💀

Great idea! Congratulations on your wedding!
That’s so cute! I recommend a more direct source of light (like grow lights?) so they don’t get too leggy!
Great idea! ( I may have to take this idea if I ever get married) Congratulations!
Terrific wedding favor. Also loved your use of “foist” lol! Congrats on your upcoming nuptials
Sowing the last of the wild oats. How symbolic.
Congrats on the wedding.
omg I LOVE this idea!
That’s awesome! I ld guess maybe only 10 or 20 of them will survive but that’s still 10 or 20 more than there are now!
Congratulations 🎉 I love the different colored labels so cute
Very cool! What is the boiling water/soaking trick?
I love this so much haha, when’s the wedding? DM me your wedding registry I want to buy you something as a thank you for giving your guests the gift of pollinator/host plants!
This is how real change takes place in the world!
That’s so fun! I gave away native plant seeds I collected myself, but this might have been simpler for guests lolol
