Parade of Homes features 16 spots on two weekends
The Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans once again opens residences throughout the metro area for two weekends of tours, showcasing contemporary dwellings from a variety of builders.
Starting June 21-22 and 28-29, the parade will feature 16 homes, including the St. June Dream Home, that can be toured in person or virtually in July.
The homes are in New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner, Marrero, Belle Chasse and Waggaman.

The Albert Ledner-designed home of Marty Brantley and Michael Hollis at 5328 Bellaire Drive will be featured during the Preservation Resource Center’s 2025 MidMod Home Tour and Happy Hour June 18.

PRC tours 3 midcentury-modern homes
The Preservation Resource Center explores three Lakewood South homes during its annual MidMod Home Tour and Happy Hour from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Two of the midcentury-modern homes were designed by Albert Ledner, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, one of which was his personal dwelling. The third was the personal residence of T. Sellers Meric.
The homes are at 5328 and 5460 Bellaire Drive and 5570 Jacquelyn Court, all within walking distance.
Community engagement meetings will allow public to view the proposed plan for the future of City Park.

Community Engagement Meetings planned for City Park
The public will have a chance to get a look at the proposal for City Park’s urban greenspace at two meetings on June 25 at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters, 3 Victory Ave.
The event, dubbed “Taste-Testing The Gumbo,” will be at noon and 6:30 p.m.
Participants will get to review the plan by zone to confirm it reflects community interests and fosters best outcomes the park.
One activity will provide input on programming, the next steps in the process and celebrate efforts that have led to the final stage.

Chill out at Longue Vue Sno-ball Social June 26
Find out what’s in bloom and get a mouth full of frozen goodness June 26 when Longue Vue House and Gardens hosts its annual Sno-ball Social with free admission to the gardens and sweet treats.
Admission to the garden is free and staff gardeners will discuss the various flora sprouting in seasonal shades, plus Imperial Woodpecker Sno-Balls will have icy delicacies on a first come, first serve basis from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A seminar on learning about the history of a piece of property will be sponsored by the Friends of the Cabildo on June 28 at the New Orleans Jazz Museum in the Old U.S. Mint, 400 Esplanade Ave.
“Researching Your New Orleans Property” will feature Robert J. Cangelosi Jr., an adjunct lecturer at Tulane University’s School of Architecture. The talk will outline developing the history using primary and secondary sources, preparing a chain of title and also discovering improvements made over the years.
The seminar will be at 10 a.m. live and on Zoom. Cost is $35, $25 for members, for either in-person or Zoom.

HNOC to host antiques forum
The weekend-long celebration of history and aesthetics returns to The Historic New Orleans Collection for the annual Antiques Forum.
“Light and Distraction: Material Culture of Southern Amusement” will be the theme for the Aug. 8-10 incarnation. Board games, the circus, pleasure gardens, horse racing and more will be examined.
A lineup of experts and enthusiasts include Tara Gleason Chicirda, of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation; Claudia Pfeiffer, of the National Sporting Library & Museum; and Allison Robinson, of The New-York Historical Society.

Learn art of bonsai over a beer
Horticulture will be what’s on tap at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Skeeta Hawk Brewing, 455 N. Dorgenois St., for Bonsai Bar, which aims to introduce the ancient Asian art of gardening while attendees enjoy a beer at a local brewery. Dwarf jade (Portulacaria afra) will be the planting.
Instructors will lead participants in lessons on the core concepts to pot, prune and design a bonsai tree.
