5/21/25 — It’s a big holiday weekend at Darby Creek Nursery, and that means big savings for gardeners! Jeff Turnbull, owner of Darby Creek Nursery, joined us again on Good Day Gardening to share details about their Memorial Day Sale—happening Friday through Monday.
You’ll get 25% off all plants, just in time to fill out your garden beds and containers. And thanks to the warm March and April, Jeff says many of the annual plants are more mature than usual, meaning you’re getting bigger, more established plants that are ready to thrive.
We also checked in with Jeff on a common issue popping up in gardens across the area: bacterial leaf spot on tomato plants. The recent stretch of wet and cool weather has created ideal conditions for it, and some customers have already started seeing symptoms.
Jeff’s advice? Prune off the affected leaves—they won’t recover, but the good news is the plant will. Once the weather warms back up, your tomatoes should bounce back and continue growing strong.
You can find Darby Creek Nursery at 9050 Amity Pike, and don’t forget to catch Jeff’s latest gardening tips every Saturday and Sunday morning on FOX28 during Good Day Gardening.
