Shirley Gardener, 88, passed away on June 7, 2025.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Valerie S. Johnson.
Shirley was born in Detroit, Mich., on May 1, 1937, to the late Frank and Florence (Russell) Gardener. Frank and Florence had two children, Shirley and her older (predeceased) brother Milton (Christine) Gardener.
Shirley graduated from Jane Addams High School in Cleveland in 1954 and later spent much of her career working for Cuyahoga County as a typist. She cherished her independence and lived for many years at Schnurmann House in Mayfield Heights where she had many friendships and a rich social life. She took part in many of the community activities at Schnurmann House. These included their Wii bowling league and playing Mahjong.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. June 12 at Knollwood Cemetery at 1678 Som Center Road in Mayfield Heights.
