I got gifted this pothos and it’s been sprouting new leaves, but it’s just continually growing this one vine in one direction. I want it to have multiple vines to have more of a typical “bush” or plant look. Should I trim some of the leaves and try to propagate a new one or does anyone have other advice? Thank you!!

Yes, pothos will continually grow on one vine. When you see a bush, it’s multiple pothos in one pot. The best way is to chop and prop then the new propagation will vine just like this one.
You will have to chop the vine and prop it back into the pot with the original vine. The new vine will root and continue growing and the old vine will activate a growth node and begin again. Keep repeating until your plant is as bushy as you wish it to be.
make it climb instead of hang
You have two choices to make it bushier. The first (and fastest) option is to go buy more pothos and put them all together in one pot. The second is to chop your vine up, propagate it, and repeat.
I like to wrap the main vine around the inside of the pot, making sure some of the nodes touch dirt. They’ll eventually root up. It’ll make the plant stronger and give it a bushier look. Trimming the ends of the vine will also encourage new growth points for secondary vines to form off the primary.

Yep, this is one plant and growing as normal, just from the end. The full pots you see are just multiple plants in one pot.
I’d suggest letting it grow a little bit more, then clip off about 4 leaves, propagate each one and then you’ll have 4 more plants to add to the pot.
I would like my fern to grow more like a Japanese Maple…but it just can’t.
Pin the vine node side down to the dirt. The little nubs on the stem are the nodes. Once they are in contact with the dirt, they’ll grow into roots and the stem will start offshooting multiple leaves and stems. It’s a good way to get a bushier pothos until you can start chopping and propping longer stems.
Edit: To clarify pinning, I mean take some garden wire and make a little “U” out of it and stick it in the dirt to hold the stem down. Don’t actually pin your pothos lol
