I am looking to build a paladarium out of this 29 gallon fish tank. It's 18 inches high and I had planned to fill it up with water and have just the top 6 inches as the above water part. I would like it to have a small waterfall/stream setup and I plan to use a canister filter to accomplish this. The primary inhabitants will be sparkling gourami and probably corysoras and a school of small rasporas or something. I don't have any plans for inhabitants up above, but I'm open to suggestions.
I've seen YouTube videos on creating a "shelf" to hold the waterfall/stream and above water plants but I want to use all plants up above who will be able to put their roots down into the water and help with water quality. I'm curious what the best set up for that would be. I'm picturing the aquatic plant pots with some sort of medium to hold the plants but won't leech into the water and harm the fish. Any suggestions for plants and substrate that might accomplish this would be much appreciated!
I'd love to see any pics you may have of something similar
