Good Morning Kaye – Love the way you came up with to dry garlic on that rack. Who knew garlic can shrivel up if too hot or not dry properly if too cool or wet as I would have thought the dryer the better. Thanks for sharing your experience on finding the best method. Blessings….
Great idea, think I will use that. Went out between rain drops yesterday and see I have a few scapes coming out now. It won't be long, probably the end of the month or early July and I will be harvesting. I will start picking my scapes in a couple of days. TY for the idea.
Looks like a great way to dry garlic Congrats on a good harvest
Kaye I love you honey but your videos are just to long the majority of the time. Condense the videos and you will have more people watching. Not criticizing you, hopefully helping you.
What a great idea for drying garlic! I have one of those that I use to start my seeds in the winter. It just sits there empty after seed starting season is over. Thanks, Kaye!
What beautiful garlic you have! I"m totally impressed. Mine this year died in May before we started getting rain. Yes, I watered, but it never seemed enough. I'm not sure what the issue was.
Great ideas! Thanks!
Hello Kaye, I love your video. Funny that I also had to look at when I pulled my garlic last year to decide when to pull my garlic this year, and I also had to look at the weather.. I bought a rack like that two years ago also to dry my garlic upside down like you do, the difference was I cut the stems short to about 9 inches long and I put the rack in my living room to dry out the garlic. A few months later so many bulbs went bad, they were brown and soft.. I still don't know why, the only thing I can think of was I didn't have a fan on directing at the garlic, even though my house has central air, and probably it was a bad idea for me to cut the stems short. So this year I'm drying my garlic the old fashion way, going to hang them with the bulbs facing down in the basement with the fan on. I guess you're in the same zone 7 as I am. Do you have problem with keeping the garlic until the time to plant the next crop? I've had this problem so I probably will grind most of it up and put in the freezer, we use garlic mostly for soup and stir-fry. Thanks for sharing this video. Take care.
Kaye, thank you for explaining your garlic drying method. Kind regards, Marie
Great information…I'll try that next time. Beautiful garlic.
Will you keep us updated on Hans and his family in the future?
Genius way of drying garlic . Lovely video and music showing the garlic drying rack.
I plan to harvest mine in about a week, and I'm unsure how exactly I'll cure them. This is my first year growing hard neck garlic. I have a shed and a garage, both of which are way too hot. The only other place is my 10×10 front porch. I didn't grow nearly as much as you. I think I'll tie them into bundles and hang under the porch. That's really my only option other than inside my house with a fan blowing on them.
That rack looks just like the shelves of my tiny little greenhouse, great idea!
Only just ran across your YouTube program yesterday as you were discussing your recent unusual event. I am touched, not only by our age and interests, but by your genuine concern for others. I have now subscribed and will be following your postings.Prayer forthcoming for you and certainly for your friend injured in the tree incident. God bless you both …
Seems this year is a productive and more manageable. So thankful you have your wonderful “helpers”. You are amazing but any of us need helpers, especially with all the great gardens you have! ❤
Makes sense that it Dries better with a fan- love the rack idea! Thanks!
Oh! What excellent idea! Wire storage racks to dry on!! LOVE ❤️ IT!
Question: What about wet cardboard, then cover with Dewitt pro weed barrier, burn openings into it, cover in gravel and then plant in the openings?? That might work nicely in a finite area… 🤔 I wanna try that myself…
❤❤ Excellent idea. ❤❤
I’m excited to try drying my garlic and scapes this way. Thank you. Love all your videos.
