I live just north of Pittsburgh. I have recently discovered my lawn to have dead spots everywhere. Not sure if it is a fungus or pests.
I did notice a lot of small white moths in my lawn late last fall.

This cover the entire lawn…1/2 acre

Put some fertilizer down. That will clear up your problem. It’s red thread.

Shyt mine has this too! Was wondering what it was. Sounds like it’s from all this damn rain I’m in New England

Red thread, just use a rake on it. And put down fertiliser. Always works for me.

Fungicides pretty much freeze the plant in its current state. It won’t get worse but it won’t clear it up. It will grow out and you’ll mow it out. I’m not big fan of fungicides. I don’t think there is much upside for the cost.

You need to use a fungicide. You’re going to want something with Propiconazole as an active ingredient. Will clear right up with one application. You’ll do a second usually 3-4 weeks later based on the label

Thank you all for the help and advice. Very much appreciate 🙂

For a little bit of fungus, I’d just fertilize and let your grass fight it. If it gets worse, maybe go with a fungicide.

Red thread, almost everyone in the area has it.
