Oooh, those are mesmerising.
How do you water them, only misting/spraying?

P.S. In my opinion, $30 for a kit is way too low-priced.

*I* probably wouldn’t pay that much, but just because I think this is pretty easy for someone who knows their way around plants to set up. Your target audience is moms and maybe interior designers – people who wouldn’t feel comfortable pinning and arranging orchids themselves. Good luck!

This is very common in Hawaii. Nice setup.

some of the bigger pieces I would pay more, but I wouldn’t buy the orchids just because I know from experience how long those blooms will last outside of a perfectly kept up environment.

Lovely and beautiful!! For the smallest ones I would think 30 is fair, then moving up in price from there. Can usually pick up the miniature potted orchids at the local grocery for $15, so I’d pay double for the aesthetic mounting!

I would totally pay $30 for a kit, but I’d never pay $70 for a plant, even if mounted. I’ve just killed too many plants to pay more than $40 for one. I can totally see others being willing to pay that much though.
Good luck if that’s what you’re hoping to start doing!

My suggestion would be to try to find unusual shapes or unusual wood/bark to mount them on. Also be super transparent about the material. I once saw someone selling a mounted plant on a piece of foam painted and sculpted to look like bark. It looked great but they were charging a lot and didn’t disclose that it wasn’t actual bark.
Another thing that always makes me a repeat customer is to try to calculate a price that includes extra material like extra string and moss in case something happens. That way the customer doesn’t have to buy a whole block of moss if they are out just to fix one plant.
They look beautiful though. I’m struggling with my first orchid. Any tips on how to get it to grow a new stem? It’s only pushing out leaves. It was a rescue and pretty beaten up when I got it so I’m hoping it’s still in a recovery phase.

I might not pay it unless it was a gift (because I’m cheap) but I would try for $50. I do think they’re worth that. Driftwood alone is worth something. I bet if you bought bulk little spray bottles to fill with orchid food and and printed little care sheets it would help 😉

$60-$70 seems right. Of course it sounds high, It’s $10 for milk and cereal

Orchids are expensive plants. That was the first plant I bought. Being a beginner 4 years ago I never bought another one. I learned for myself to have an Orchid I needed more experience. Your plant looks beautiful mounted so congratulations..

30 bucks definitely, a nice orchid maybe 45

I mounted my phal for less than $20 (phal included).
In general, I can’t recommend doing so unless your space/climate is humid or you really enjoy watering plants.
I needed to soak mine 2+ times (especially while the heat was on)per day and still nearly dehydrated it to death.
Potted it and it has recovered nicely.

Same price as a regular orchid. Even cheap orchids usually come in a ceramic pot which is factored into the cost. Your really just switching out the pot for a piece of driftwood

There’s a market for everything and everyone. I would pay $70 for one. I HAVE paid $70 for a mounted staghorn before.
Glittering_Cow945
. The orchids are dirt cheap here, less than 10 euros. Wouldn’t pay more for this.

As someone who’s very experienced with plants and i previously have mounted plants and also don’t have the correct environment for it I could not buy one.
Theyre so pretty, but they going to need a very humid environment and other things that I frankly think is a lot
Of work for Me.

I think the kit is a good value at thirty bucks. Seventy is probably a bit more than I would pay for a plant that isn’t at the absolute top of my wishlist, though. I love orchids, but phals aren’t rare or anything.
I would also recommend you try a few with the flower spike hanging, although that will require a complete chop on any spike that has already grown in the “standard” orientation. Phals in the wild will often grow with the flowers hanging basically straight down, what with nobody clipping them to little poles, and I think that would be a nice fit for this natural-style mount.

Orchids are such a freaky plant!

I’m such a dummy! I have driftwood and moss and orchids and never thought to put them together!! This is awesome.
