Guy was 95, so the landscaping is in rough shape, but for 50 years he cared deeply and grew some beautiful flowers on the property, huge Dahlias and Peonies, an orchard, as a fellow gardener and cultivator, I’m glad I was able to take on the property to carry on the work he no longer could ❤️ vs someone who would have tore it all out or wouldn’t have been equipped to do these beautiful plants right. That was one of the few wishes he wanted passed on to the future buyers after the purchase was made.

Give it something taller to climb on and it will look even better.

How nice you are able to continue care on the plants he worked so hard on! That is a beautiful clematis!

That’s beautiful. Mine just seem to be all over the place and not so bountiful with flowers.

Looks like the H.F. Young cultivar. Deep vivid purple. Beautiful.

I have the same one! How lucky for to inherit a garden that was planted with love and passion.

There was one Nextdoor like this, except my new neighbors didn’t wait to see what was in their garden they just clear cut everything and let the weeds take over❤️

  9. Ugh I’m so jealous. Mine is literally a twig.

Our neighbor down the street have one that’s huge (and beautiful). We didn’t know what it was until now; thanks.

It’s beautiful. I just planted three of them for my back fence and I’m hoping they grow and take well to where I put then l them. Supposedly it’s the purple kind too.

My GF and I have been looking for a new place and there have been several discussions like, “There’s no room for me to plant flowers at this place”, “I’d have to rip up all those shrubs and replace them with flowers”.

My goal at my next place is to create a perennial flower garden that has something that is in bloom at all times with some spots to fill in with petunias, zinnias, marigolds and a few others. I planted 4 clematis this year 2 at my current home (in planters so I can take them with me when I leave soon) and 2 at my mom’s house. One of them is growing it’s first flower bud…and I can’t wait to see it because I don’t remember which variety it is!

I’m fixing to try and grow some from seed! I heard they are picky though.

Purple! Favorite. So now we can see the peonies? If only there were purple peonies. Love that you’re going to continue the former gardener’s passion. 💜

Y’all keep reminding me I need to give mine some love.
