Progress with my lil’ no lawn!
Paving stones installed ✅
Got my natives planted ✅
Got clover and a wildflower lawn alternative seed mix sown and germinating ✅
Got a part shade wildflower mix for all the corners and crevices of the yard… I even threw them all over the areas that have been landscape fabric’ed and rocked… weeds grow through them so maybe some wild flowers will 😂
Some of the plants in the planters are not native, but they are from the native plant nursery and recommended as non-invasive and not as an issue ecologically. As a hobbyist I grow mesembs indoors and really wanted to try out some of the other outdoor species.
I also have some bird feed out, I am planning on getting a new bird bath and will convert the current tray to a dust bath for the quails 🥰
Really turning this little 10 foot splash of grass, which has been a bit of a wasteland the last couple of years, into a nice little oasis in my backyard. Thanks for all the inspo to go through with it, nolawns!
As a little side project, I’ve been fighting with a shade cloth which was too big for the pergola, I bought one that fits properly and will be repurposing the old one as a sun shade/curtain. I am pulling them apart with the stitch ripper and turning them into curtains that I can install on the outer edge of the pergola so that the seating area, that usually gets blasted with the worst afternoon sun, will have some shade!
Talk to me about your no lawn projects, friends! I wanna hear all about it 🙂

Ferns, hostas and bleeding heart would grow like crazy in that yard!
