Today I received my new crown jewel, a beautiful acuminata stellata reverse variegate from Lynsey Young. When I received the plant I had one fat healthy bottom leave that was broken off in shipping. I’d really love to try to propagate it but it was not a clean break from the stem. See pic 3 & 4. Does anyone have any special ancient secret to improve my odds or is this just a big waste of time to try. I have propagated tons of succulents and other plants but for some reason I have crap luck with Haworthia’s. This is an exceptionally beautiful plant and the first time I have spent this much money for a Haworthia I’d love to get a two for one. lol. Thanks in advance for any advice given.

I’ve gotten a successful prop from a leaf without stem tissue only once, and it took ages to even start producing a root.
What I would recommend is setting it in a small pot in an area with less light and then playing the waiting game. It’s unlikely you’ll get anything but it’s always worth a shot. The leaf prop rooting and producing pups can take a year sometimes, you can leave it be until it either produces roots or dries up. Once roots appear you can start gently watering
