I made a small terrarium for my first. I got some pine twigs and small pinecones from outside to add to the hard scape. I baked them for a few hours at a low temp to try and sterilize/whatever them.
But shortly after adding them, they sprouted this light tan fungus (you can see on each of the little bulbs on the twig). And I remembered that pine sap is supposed to partly have an anti insect effect right?
I have springtails and isopods in there and they seem to be fine. But should I avoid pine in the future? Is it bad for either the fauna or more generally?
Thanks!

Not really. Looks ugly at first, but if you have a healthy amount of springtails – they will deal with it. Had some spider wood with severe molding (as seen in the pic), but after about a month though, its mostly clean and nice looking. Just give it some time! Similar thing happened with a pinecone, but no pictures of that, mine was completely dried out, fresh ones might pose more of a problem, because of the sap and aromatic compounds.
