Planted native to Ohio wildflowers around a month ago but still no flowers. Are these going to eventually flower? ???? Was hoping for color, bees, and butterflies. Also dog for scale:)

Are there annuals in the mix? A lot of perennials don’t bloom their first year.

In some cases and for some species, it can take up to 3 years from seedling just to reach establishment and flower.

I see some yellow flowers in there 😉

Plants don’t grow overnight. Mature perennials in spring can look like they do but that’s after growing root systems for at least a year

Come back in a couple more months and show us this in bloom.

Yellow was yarrow? I think? I planted that and a few other natives that were already large from a nursery. In an attempt to hedge my bets. Thanks for the response, guess I just expected them to grow and bloom really quickly.

There are a lot of things in there that will bloom soon. Just be patient, it won’t take much longer.

the bigger plants look like sunflowers and i think the lower mass might be the lanceleaf coreopsis. if so, those are long blooming late season flowers that will be a nice mass of yellow

  7. Give them time.

Also is it possible that the ovbious smirking culprit in the scene may have beheaded and then eaten them? I have a similar situation with my lack of flowers though my 4 legged gremlin is smaller. /s

Ohioan here. I planted 4 large raised beds with natives. 2 dedicated to just milkweed. I planted some in the fall. Some in March.

Mine have not flowered either. Hoping in time I’ll have my butterfly & bee haven

I’ve only had a few flowers yet, some sage, columbine, and geraniums. The bee balm I planted in the alley that gets blasted w sun all day only just started to bloom. Patience, Ohioans!

*also the deer and bunnies are prolly eating some of those

I’m in Florida. This year has been terrible. I did a small media last year and was expanding it this year and nothing, my small media is coming up a little but nothing else that I seeded.

Not having April showers killed my May flowers.
