    Hey, I would never do anything to intentionally harm the critical native insect populations.

    But that big sucker would freak me the hell out.

    I am more of a fan-from-a-distance when it comes to the giant furry winged ones.

    edit: for the record, I’ve been in the country my whole life and have seen many large insects and snakes and spiders and bats – most don’t bump me at all. we all have our irrationalities… but sure, vote me down

    mine have really been showing up since my red bergamot bloomed here kn central NC (8a).

  7. What kind of plants does it visit in your garden? I have only seen it once in my garden on a verbena.
