After a long month of waiting for the grass to die, I was able to finally get some native plants in the ground today. I'm so excited to see this fill in and become a pollinator habitat! Special thanks to my local native plant nursery for making the process easy for a beginner.

Plant list:
Roundleaf groundsel (Packera obovata),
Narrow-leaved sundrops (Oenothera fruticosa),
Smooth penstemon (Penstemon digitalis),
Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea),
Virginia mountain mint (Pycnanthemum virginianum),
Early goldenrod (Solidago juncea),
Clustered mountain mint (Pycnanthemum muticum),
New England aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae),
Gray goldenrod (Solidago nemoralis),
Heath aster (Symphyotrichum ericoides),
Tall ironweed (Vernonia gigantea),
White goldenrod (Solidago bicolor).

Only note- next time you might want to consider planting in a hexagonal pattern rather than a square grid, it will just look a bit more natural. But it’ll fill in over time. Good work 🙂

Prepare for the oddballs that clustered mountain mint is about to bring your yard. So awesome.

I’m really interested to see how the Oenothera fruticosa fills in for you. You have some very vigorous species in there, Chelsea chop will help control crowding and prevent shading out of smaller species.
